Zambia Youth Climate Leaders Call on The House of Chiefs
As part of the 2024 Climate Emergency Day Commemoration, Young Volunteers for Environment (YVE) Zambia paid a courtesy call to the Chairperson of the House of Chiefs, His Royal Highness Chief Nkambo. During the visit, YVE highlighted the pivotal role traditional leaders play in leading climate action. As custodians of natural resources and cultural heritage, traditional leaders possess the influence to mobilize local communities toward sustainable practices and climate resilience. YVE called for their active participation in spearheading climate-focused initiatives, particularly in areas such as deforestation, carbon trading, and sustainable land use.
In response, His Royal Highness Chief Nkambo expressed support for youth-led climate action and challenged the youth to be innovative. He acknowledged that young people possess the technical capacity and knowledge to find lasting solutions to the climate crisis and urged them to take up leadership roles in addressing environmental challenges. This meeting marks a significant step toward integrating traditional leadership and youth innovation into Zambia’s climate action agenda.

    I never imagined that 2/3 demands we made 270 days ago during our climate emergency matchpast would be a reality today. 1. We called on the President to declare a climate emergency ✅ 2. We called on the President to create a dedicated climate action taskforce (I am sure it's work in progress) 3. We called on the President to allocate a portion of the Constituency Development Fund towards climate adaptation Projects within affected grassroot communities. ✅ All I can say is, I am proud of myself, my team, and the commitment, responsiveness and demonstrated political will by the New Dawn Government to fight the climate crisis in Zambia!

    Please turn humbly to the Most High Creator God. Read His Word to us humans, in His Word the King James Bible. He promises to bless us if we will simply obey His every Word, Matthew 4: 4. ..man shall not live by bread alone, but by every Word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God. Exodus 20, including v 10. 7th Day. Matthew 24: 4, Take heed that no man deceive you. Exodus 24: 6, 7 and especially 8. Now the world is in the time of Begining of Sorrows. But our Creator will keep us from the hardest of times if we will: 🔹II Chronicles 7: 14. All His laws are principles of operation. Everyone everywhere all the time will be blessed if obey His laws. Including worshipping Him every 7th Day on His commanded 7th Day Sabbath. Again, II Chronicles 7: 14. He will heal your beautiful land.

    There is no objective observational evidence that we are living in a global climate crisis. The UN's IPCC AR6, chapter 12 "Climate Change Information for Regional Impact and for Risk Assessment", section 12.5.2, table 12.12 confirms there is a lack of evidence or no signal that the following have changed: Air Pollution Weather (temperature inversions), Aridity, Avalanche (snow), Average precipitation, Average Wind Speed, Coastal Flood, Agricultural drought, Hydrological drought, Erosion of Coastlines, Fire Weather (hot and windy), Flooding From Heavy Rain (pluvial floods), Frost, Hail, Heavy Rain, Heavy Snowfall and Ice Storms, Landslides, Marine Heatwaves, Ocean Acidity, Radiation at the Earth’s Surface, River/Lake Floods, Sand and Dust Storms, Sea Level, Severe Wind Storms, Snow, Glacier, and Ice Sheets, Tropical Cyclones. There is no objective observational evidence that we are living through a global climate crisis. None.

      That is subjective to many other factors. The IPCC report in 2021 showed we have a carbon budget of about 400 GT globally and beyond that, there is no doubt we will begin to experience the worst of the worst impacts of the climate crisis. We have two options as humanity, either we take a proactive disposition or reactive one. The former being having to wait until we are hit even harder by the climate crisis or take the latter option, which is to declare Climate Emergency early enough so we could avoid going into the worst stage of the crisis. Science had clearly shown that the global emissions are steadily on the rise and our current efforts are inadequate and slow decision making might cost us even more. The climate crisis is already being experienced, for Africa it's even worse....

    • @OldScientist
      @OldScientist ปีที่แล้ว

      @FrankAkufuna No. The IPCC report shows specifically that there is no evidence of man-made global climate change in the whole range of areas listed in chapter 12. The UN's IPCC AR6 report, chapter 11 'Weather and Climate Extreme Events in a Changing Climate' summarises the fact that certain severe weather events cannot be detected as increasing, nor attributed to human caused climate change: Pages 1761 - 1765, Table 11.A.2 Synthesis table summarising assessments Heavy Precipitation: 24 out of 45 global regions low confidence in observed trend (12 medium confidence, so 50-50, toss a coin), 43 out 45 low confidence in human attribution. Agricultural Drought: 31 out of 45 global regions low confidence in observed trend (14 medium confidence, so 50-50. No high confidence assessment). 42 out 45 low confidence in human attribution (3 medium, no high confidence). Ecological Drought as above. Hydrological Drought: 38 out of 45 global regions low confidence in observed trend. 43 out 45 low confidence in human attribution (2 medium confidence, no high confidence). So the IPCC are saying we didn't cause droughts and we didn't make it rain. How surprising! There is no objective observational evidence that we are living in a global climate crisis.

      @FrankAkufuna Try another chapter? The UN's IPCC AR6 report, chapter 11 'Weather and Climate Extreme Events in a Changing Climate' summarises the fact that certain severe weather events cannot be detected as increasing, nor attributed to human caused climate change: Pages 1761 - 1765, Table 11.A.2 Synthesis table summarising assessments Heavy Precipitation: 24 out of 45 global regions low confidence in observed trend (12 medium confidence, so 50-50, toss a coin), 43 out 45 low confidence in human attribution. @FrankAkufuna How about some quotes from AR6: "There is low confidence in the emergence of heavy precipitation and pluvial and river flood frequency in observations, despite trends that have been found in a few regions." "There is low confidence in the emergence of drought frequency in observations, for any type of drought, in all regions." "Observed mean surface wind speed trends are present in many areas, but the emergence of these trends from the interannual natural variability and their attribution to human-induced climate change remains of low confidence due to various factors such as changes in the type and exposure of recording instruments, and their relation to climate change is not established. . . The same limitation also holds for wind extremes (severe storms, tropical cyclones, sand and dust storms)." There is no objective observational evidence that we are living through a global climate crisis. None.
