@PhilBrocklehurst in my opinion there neck and neck, but I do think Dragon King was a tad bit better, since he killed Giant enemies and bosses in almost seconds, also Metal Mario, also was better off stage

@GarfieldCat-1978 Aye man 😊 perfect horror movie scenario 😁 but yes, early prototypes are so cool. Ever seen the prototype for Sonic the Hedgehog 3, it's got some interesting features and quirks. And considering how buggy the build is and how late in the development it was , it's amazing how Yuji Naka and his team were able to fix it up into a playable state in the few months that remained before its release date.

@PhilBrocklehurst Prototypes are so neat and I'm happy I have 2 Unique and Rare Peices of Sonic 2s History This is my favorite Sonic game ever which is why I bought them This one was so much more buggy than the Simon Wai Prototype I also like in Scrap Brain act 2, the level is copied 3 times in one level 😅 Unfortunate that will never get to see What's Beyond The Final Zone, it's sad that no one will ever reach there, even on emulator it crashes 😔

@@GarfieldCat-1978 Yeah, it's so rad that you have both the Nick Arcade and Simon Wai prototypes on cartridges. Very cool additions to the Sonic collection and a piece of gaming history that will never be replicated. Sonic the Hedgehog 2 is the best. The levels all feel well paced and there are more fun ones than bad ones. Sonic 3 & Knuckles enhanced a lot of the mechanics but the troubled development led to the middle section of Sonic 3's levels becoming padded so players didn't feel like they had bought only half a game back in 1994. And oh yes, the Nick Arcade version is way less polished than the Simon Wai prototype and so on 😅 Lol, yeah. A lot of the second and third acts are just the same level but with some different ring placement and nothing else 😆 Aye, it's a pity that the scripting for the final boss fight in Sonic 1 is still present in the Nick Arcade build and clashes with the new level layout causing the prototype to crash. If there was a way to bypass that glitch, it would be interesting to see what the rest of the early Hill Top Zone looked like.

@PhilBrocklehurst yea true, I know everyone says Sonic 3 wins, but unpopular opinion alert ⚠️ I don't really like Sonic 3 I much prefer Sonic 2, and yea, it's pretty funny that Some acts are the same but with different ring placements, it's like a game of find the hidden rings 😆 And yea, you can definitely tell people weren't supposed to play this 😅 And also when I found the only Eggman Monitor in the game which did nothing 🤣 and the Invincibility being bugged to where it last forever 🤔 Remember in the Simon Wai Prototype when you would collect 100 rings and I played the Beta Final Boss Entrance theme 😅 and Casino Night zone was so much different, and how can we forget the legendary Wood Zone 😀 It's also strange that the Special Stage didn't work in the Simon Wai Prototype but worked in the Nick Arcade for some odd reason, unfortunate that it Crashes the game 😐

And just a million more to go 😅
