Tithing & participating in Kingdom work

OVERVIEW All of us have different feelings and attitudes when it comes to giving money to a local church. For some of us, it’s a regular and assumed part of our discipleship. For others, it’s a financial goal. And for others, it’s an exploitative way for churches to get more money. Regardless of how we feel about tithing, it’s difficult to be a generous person who lives out the way of Jesus wit...

Disciples Who ARE Generous, Not Donors Who Do Generous Things

For the teaching on this practice, go to: formedbyjesus.com/generosity/disciples-not-donors/ OVERVIEW FROM SUNDAY: Fewer sins are as deep-rooted and hard to detect as greed. Not many of us would admit to being greedy or materialistic, but greed, by default, lives inside each one of us. Jesus makes this clear in Luke 11 when he confronts the Pharisees who hid their greed from others and projecte...

Great conversation! I needed to hear this today. I've struggled with giving for a long time and it's an area of my faith that I defintlehy need to surrender more to the Lord and work on to be a better steward and faithful giver. Strep throat lol
Glad it was helpful!
Strep throat 😷🤧
Thanks for listening all the way through!
I like that he manually tithes. I’ve done both on auto and manually and there’s something deeper when you intentionally do it
True! Always good for those who are disciplined with their budget!
Loved this! Strep throat
👏👏👏
Thanks for listening all the way through!
Bravo Calvin, bravo!

There it is lol!
Where's the opening music today lol
It was there... just super quiet!
Yay for Viking feast!🎉
Here is what i see as a problem first off as a Christian one has to be firstly thankful of what God has given. For me all what i have is because of god including the meoney i have and all my posesions so theres so many ways to give that dosent require giving actial money especially to organizations that take 90% of it to pay themselvs as most charities are 90% persenters meaning that 90© of donations go to pay for the admistration of the charity. At the same time god never ment that one gives financially so much that one can't take care of themselves so that they themselves doesn't need to be given from others later down the road.
If we see tithing as a "get-to-do" there's no biblical argument. But today's version of tithing from earned wages carries no biblical precedent. As such, no biblical obligation.
This series has been a blessing.
Banter away. It's comical!
Lol! Yes, you were gonna go live 😂
The end discussion was the highlight. I tend to think the practice of the church in Acts would point to 0% is acceptable. If that’s your means. What we see in acts is everyone gives the max they can. They apply the “what do I need to keep” literally.
The best theory I’ve seen is that if you tithe on gross, you have, practically speaking, tithed on money you recieve from social security later. So it’s a way to bake in going over 10%.

Thank you guys! Going to be following the series.
Mature Christians should consider giving money back to the Lord for sure
YNAB is a great budgeting tool as well! So many great options out there
I second this
Fifth week the treyfecta😂
You should go live!
The most hostile episode yet... 🤯🤯🤯
We agreed it won't happen again! :)
😡🙏
You appear quite hostile here... and yet believing for a miracle.
Indeed
It’s a miracle this wasn’t hostile ;) (also I loved the sermon this week, really didn’t think it was convoluted at all and it seemed very faithful to the source texts)
Thank you! We are grateful for all the feedback so far! We just like to give each other a hard time and we're always looking to get better. Haha.
Hostile...miracle 😆
Woohoo!!! You are a COMMITTED listener! So thankful for you, Heather!
Oh boy! You guys and your apples lol😂 😂
It's the only way to go!
I like the banter!
I would write my messages word for word and then record it by Friday night and then listen to it several times on Saturday.
But I always left room for additions and subtractions as I was in the pulpit.
Brilliant!
This was a great explanation of living out our faith.
Thanks for listening! We are so glad it's helpful!
It's called baked oatmeal.
That's exactly it! So good!
It's the background music.
Amen! Makes total sense.
I agree making friends in this life is key. Especially when they are after Gods heart and can keep you accountable.
Amen!
The transparency on this video is nice, I think it’s good when you guys be real and go off track a little. You guys are doing good🙏🏼 keep it up.
Thanks Fresco! It's a joy leading men like you!
Regarding the pronunciation: It depends. Trey is partially right. "Caesar" is pronounced in English as "See-Sir" or "See-Zer" In Rome they would have pronounced that "Kai-Sa'r" Taking that translational aspect, if you pronounce Caesar as "Seezir" you should pronounce Caesarea as "Seserea" or "Seeserea" If you say "Kaisa'r", then yeah, it should be "Kai-sarea"
Ahhh. Makes sense. Thank you!!
I love the behind the scenes types of episodes. It's really interesting to hear
Thanks for the feedback!! Noted 👊
