The first time I went there the house was about 2 steps from derelict. It was wonderful watching the ongoing renovations to get it to be the beauty that it now is (again). Now repeating this same process with Ventfort Hall and Lockwood-Matthews mansion.
Amazing piece of art, people back in the day really cared about how things looked.
Next time I'm on the east coast and when covid calms down (god willing) I want to visit this place, it looks like the Spencer mansion from resident evil! Really beautiful and thank you to all the people keeping it in tact.

This is way better than the white cardboard boxes with glass today, this looks like it's a house people actually cared about when building. Imagine how long all the carvings took.

Dream home...
They do not build homes like this anymore. The craftsmanship be it plaster work or wood carvings is amazing, stained glass and frescoes, elaborate trims turn this home into a brilliant work of art--I wish homes were still crafted like this one--one day I hope and dream of living in a house even a quarter of this one's beauty. Not just a house or a home it is living in art itself!
Now Bow but what if u build a new one... do u think itd still be creepy?
Only the very well-built homes survive -- these are not representative of the average home of the era..
