As an expert, do you see the correlation between Germany of 1933-1941 & China today. From an engineering leader, their version of socialism , the mass production of goods, the modernization of their cities etc?

Good video, the only thing you missed was that there were allegations against him in relation to the war crimes you mentioned but there wasn't any sufficient evidence that would tie him to them. Also, hate him or like him but it cannot be denied that the guy was tough as fuck. In conclusion: lost part of foot due to injury (had to take morphine as a painkiller), then wounded in Balkans plus ear damage, as soon as he recovered sent to Berlin (enjoy all that artillery fire), caltured by Russians: 6 years in solitary confinement (keep in mind, solitary confinement is supposed to make you go crazy with solitude, boredom and sensory deprivation) then 4 years in Lubyanka prison. An asshole? Yes. But that kind of resilience is pretty impressive.

The man was an utter genius from start to finish. I've read "On War," and it is very dense. It takes time just to get through the material and digest it because there's so much packed into every page. He has my highest respects.

He didn’t deserve such a fate. Since his own son, a Wehrmacht officer volunteered for a suicide mission to kill Hitler during a presentation of new military gear. The young man was wearing a bomb belt to set off when ‘dolf came close. But as usual « The hand of the devil saved Hitler » Alan Clark in “Barbarossa”(1965)

Leeb was a beneficiary of Adolf Hitler's bribery scheme for senior Wehrmacht officers, receiving secret, extra-legal gifts of 250,000 Reichsmark in 1941 and of an estate valued at 638,000 Reichsmark in 1943. Following the war, Leeb was tried in the High Command Trial as part of the Subsequent Nuremberg Trials. He was convicted of transmitting the Barbarossa Decree and its criminal application by subordinate units and sentenced to three years' imprisonment time served and was therefore released after the trial concluded.

Great video. I looked up how the Germans were able to have great small arms tactics in WW2 since they were restricted after WW1. Von Seeckt name came up across the board. No matter what anyone thinks it was very impressive how they operated during those years after the Great War.

On 6 May 1947, the court found him guilty of both charges and sentenced him to death by firing squad, which was considered more honourable than hanging.[289] Although the court accepted the legality of the taking of hostages, it left open the question of the legality of killing innocent persons in reprisals; the distinction between the two was later clarified in the High Command Trial.

I'd like to see a remake as well. Not because he was a bad guy, but to explain him and all he went through better. I'm a Yank and have no love for Nazis, but I do think that Lutjens got the shaft in this film. As did Germany at the Treaty of Versailles. It was a French retaliation, period. For getting their butts kicked in 1870 when Parisinarners were forced to eat cats and for the Great War. Still cannot stomach Nazis, originals or neos.

Oh, come one. Milch was put in charge of airlift only on January 15th 1943 while airlift started on November 22nd 1942 even before full encirclement of 6th Army was completed, which happened on the very next day 23rd. Until this point Richthofen (the commander of Luftflotte 4) and Fiebig in particular (commander of VIII. Fliegerkorps) were in charge of the airlift. Moreover, by January 15th pocked shrank by half and main airfield used for airlift Pitomnik fell into Soviet's hands on the very next day 16th of January. The next airfield was Gumrak but it was not prepared cuz of Paulus' HQ left it just only on the day before 15th of January. So in these circumstances Milch took over the command of a DISSENTER already being a fact. Even though he managed to double the supplies to the pocket which Richthofen and Fiebing FAILED to do for last almost TWO MONTHS.
