A Day at the Colorado Railroad Museum with D&RGW 491 (06/01/2024)

While coming back from the Cumbres and Toltec in the early part of the summer this year, we spent a few days in Denver and Golden before continuing back to Lincoln. I found out that the Colorado Railroad Museum would be running one of their steam locomotives for a special event going on. This was my first time seeing steam operating here and it was quite fun. I also got to meet Hyce, someone mo...

Up Clear Creek on the Narrow Gauge: Action on the Georgetown Loop Railroad
มุมมอง 5922 หลายเดือนก่อน
On a July trip to Colorado, we took a ride on the and railfanned the Georgetown Loop Railroad. With their departure times being so close to each other, it allowed us to shoot them in multiples spots within the same nearby location. This was a very fun day, listening to the engine work hard upgrade and interacting with some of the train crew. When we rode the train, we got to sit right behind th...

On this day, September 28th, we set out for Nebraska City, in hopes to chase a northbound UP up to Plattsmouth, where we would then hop onto the BNSF and head west towards home. After some waiting, this plan worked exactly as intended and allowed for countless new locations along the way. I hope everyone enjoys this video, and there should be a following video or two of railfanning in this port...

Nice Video, Owen! The 2967 is an interesting locomotive.
Great mix of trains you caught, especially downtown near the wye. I wonder what the story of that autorack train is, I don't think we don't see those much here.
Nice! Lots of favorites!
Having fun out there?
10:17 dad theres a dear 🤣
Nice!!
Nice catch P3
1st gen k5hl?
Today is my birthday.
Love the UP SD40
Great stuff Owen!
Thank you
I really like some of the low shots you got, especially with the lighted BN sign. Well done on this operating session.
Thanks Andrew!
Great catch!
Amtrak should invest in better engines... This happens too frequently. Nice catch though !!
why the extra power?
The two Amtrak engines broke down and the UP which pulled them a fair bit of the run also had mechanical issues, so the BNSF was added
3:05 Interesting angle to film in Union. Ive never seen that before
I lived in Lincoln from 1972 to 1974 so this was an interesting refresher. This was long enough ago that the very first unit coal train was a startling novelty, There used to be a rickety wooden bridge over the middle of Hobson Yard that gave some great views. So a very well done video.
@@huskerhank9896 thank you! I appreciate it

Hey, do you still railfan in York?
Gotta use the power to bring it back on the tracks again, good work buddy
I love how the lead locomotive has a Raised Letter K5LLA.
First locos almost sound like models.
What's the Herzog brand? What type of locomotive was the 1st Herzog?
Herzog is a contract maintenance of way company, mostly doing ballast work. The first unit was a rebuilt EMD GP38, formerly CSX I believe.
The sounds of a steam engine working hard upgrade never get old!
That is very true! Easily one of the greatest sounds out there
Fantastic footage bro.. That was amazing !!
I love to this train with love. Scene is very good one view. I am watching from India.. ❤️
0:12 Where are those? 9:59 Nice ACe-P4 10:38 There too 12:30 MACe and an H2 MAC, wish I saw that. 13:17 And a Thundercab 13:39 Another H2 MAC and an Airslide, nice 16:07 Nice H3 AC44
At 0:12, those are a pair of SD9s that work at a grain elevator in Nebraska City along the river. Not sure what the tank is on the ex I&MRL unit however. And nice job pointing out the P4 ACes. I can never notice them on my own.
@@owenthetrainman7219 Thanks! And P4 ACes are 8500-8519, BNSF has only 20.
0:48 Nice ACe-P4
Wish it still had its old horn, at least it still has its bell.
Me as well. Some Colorado foamers snagged it when it was out there last year. Bell still is iconic though.
@@owenthetrainman7219Dumba**es
Talking about the idiots that stole the horn
WHAT??? and you did not call me?? sham..
No, we expected to be in Nebraska for a short time and chase a northbound towards Plattsmouth.
How busy is the UP falls city sub in Nebraska City?
It’s somewhat hit and miss I believe. We were there for multiple hours before any action, though I believe it can be train after train other days.
Bro flushed his whole life down the toilet.
Awesome local with great shots from both sides !!
Great camera angles
Thank you!
We have a couple of those Dash 8s here in Bakersfield but our local runs at night so I don't see it often.
That’s unfortunate. We only have a few around here so it’s lucky for us to see them as well.
Great catch!
Model railroaders of all scales like the horn too much.
I would never go to roca it’s full of Nazi . Don’t forget about the dead roca crew murdered in 86 aye
Cool catch… Wasn’t expecting that to come by !!
Certainly a unique one
Very nice 👍🏻
Bet long and tired progress to get train back
Great coverage, thanks for telling me about Camp Creek or I likely would’ve never found out about it. I’ll be sure to go back sometime.
You’re welcome! Looking forward to going back
Oh man I wish I would've known about this, I could've left grand island early to head back to omaha and stop on by. Definitely cool to see a working Steam Crane, among the vintage tractors and 7 1/2 gauge trains!
Next year can be your chance. It’s a lot of fun
Does BNSF still have any ex Burlington Northern SD70MACs with flashing ditch lights?
C’est magnifique!
How long is that Union Pacific Gas Turbine #57 and how much does it weigh.
Unfortunately I do not know the answer to those.
