Unreal talent. The fingerings that high up on the strings is not easy, and then she just adjusts her fine tuner mid-way through because she notices she's a bit flat. So proficient and assured in her playing.
I cry at the very first note she plays here; her playing was so aggressive, so powerful, like she was attacking you with sound. what a force of nature.
I feel just as you do; elgar's greatest most heartfelt piece played is if she knew it might be her last, How can David Herwitz be so blind to the intensity and staggering beauty of this work?

Remarkable performance of a masterpiece by a wonderful musical couple - instructive in the sense of seeing Maestra du Pre as the single rose among a noxious cloud of intrusive ads and a thicket of thorns - are there any all-male symphony orchestras remaining?

One of the greatest performances of our lifetime made ( almost) unwatchable for the intrusion of the advertising. The money grubbing advertising has subverted the once admirable TH-cam channel. Notice Jackie in dream state just oblivious to max and the batton.

this is imho the most passionate recording of this concerto ever - i don't know if the marvelous, ingenious, etc Jacqueline expressed her problems with MS - but sorrow, rage, anger are so physical - and desperate and forlorn hope. This Recording belongs to the Heritage of Humankind!
The above performance was given in 1968, and three years before she reportedly had symptoms that interfered with her playing-loss of sensitivity, also in her fingers, 1971. She was diagnosed with MS in 1973.

It’s very sad, in our modern societies, that the only “cultural acceptable” way of expressing angst and depression are largely through the arts. That said, perhaps these amazing, highly sensitive artists might not be so great, if they had other outlets for these emotions. 😊
What a weird thing to say. Have you thought that music at this incredible level helps channel human emotions, whatever they are...
I have been very blessed to have total strangers asking me to talk to them, incl. Usa veterans who told me that they never had any one to talk to until they talked to me.
