Bass Fishing in Cold Weather (Rancho Seco)
Happy New Year to everyone! 2024 was a special year for us - not only did we start this channel, but it was also our first year fishing from a boat. Thank you to all who have watched our journey so far. On this recent trip to Rancho Seco, the temperature hovered around the low 40s, and we weren't expecting much. Luckily, I was able to get a few winter bass on a jerkbait. Enjoy and we will see you guys soon!

We had plans on going to Clearlake earlier this year but got caught up fishing the Delta instead (addicted). We were finally able to make time and launch out of Redbud Marina. I’ve been there seen some hoggs roaming the shallows..I think those bass have seen so many lures it can be tough going a lot of times

@ I caught a 7 there and lots of smaller 2lbers..The big one hit a blue gill swim bait that was a super slow sinker ..He was way back in a cove in about 2fr of water …He destroyed it after about 3 pumps of the reel..Thanks for the video

Not the hot dog smoothie 🤮 Glad you got 5 even tho they are not the size you’re looking for. I usually fish off shore in the middle of the Lake out there around this time of the year. Hard to find them but when you do, it’s on! The fish surfacing are definitely trout so a small crappie jig or a 1/4 of a senko/ned rig is all you need to catch them. Thanks for making my fingers itch even more for some bass action! 😅

I knew that was gonna be a cat. Seen that happen to GB many times there. Still havent fished that place on my yak.
GB always seems to get a few DD cats everytime he goes lol! It’s about a 2 hr drive for us but it was worth it in our book. Hopefully you’ll be able to go this upcoming year!

Can be really good at times like any part of the delta. I generally fish the back side of Mildred there's a few spots around Mildred that do pretty good then usually I will head toward the connection slough bridge the stretch before the bridge tends to be pretty productive from there I usually head towards franks tract or back around up the san joaquin. Also Whiskey slough gets stacked up at times

Super cool low fi approach to bass fishing! Reminds me of my early days when I only did rentals and brought my own battery and trolling motor. Finally own my own old bass boat. But I had a lot of fun doing what you do!

I grew up wrestling carp and catfish and they are definitely pound for pound fighters! They lack the speed of a striper or smallmouth bass but they know how to use their weight to tire you out haha. Great fishing out there guys, keep at it🎣

The delta is definitely not an easy fishery to fish but if you put time out there and study the areas you frequent a lot, you’ll pick up on the fish routine/habits. This time of the year think deep(7-10 feet), use lures without to much erratic unnatural action, fish slower than usual, find areas that are slack but close to current, and look for the baitfish whether it’s small shad/minnows or crappie/bluegills. I would be interested in knowing what your punch setup is. I think that there is another reason why you keep losing punch fish that has nothing to do with technique. How stif is your rod? What size hook? How thick is your soft plastic? Etc.
I run a Dobyns 766 champion XP, 3/0 Owners Flippin hook and normally punch with a Reaction Innovation Sweet Beaver 4.20. Any advice would be helpful! Thanks

Great catches! When it comes to frogging and punching, sometimes we win and other times the fish finds some odd ways to escape lol. Keep at it and just keep casting. Only way you’ll get another chance of running into another jungle beast or huge zebra aka striper🎣
