This is probably just a phase. Or not. I love self-improvement, but I can turn toxic. With the amount of content we’re exposed to, it might just make you feel more insecure and worthless. If you struggle with never feeling like enough, this might be why.

Everything you are saying is quite common unfortunately in today’s age because we have, in the era of the internet created endless personal philosophies. Everyone has some idea of what an “improve person” is. But everyone is so lost and confused because there is no real sense of direction its just endless numbers of people selling their own personal brand of spirituality and wisdom based on anecdotes. As a Christian, I believe your main points have all been addressed in the Bible 1. Self Worth We are all lovable because God loves us. If God, the Lord of the Universe loves us who can say anything that takes away from that? That doesn't mean he approves of everything we do or say but it doesn't meant that he wants the best for us and wants to have a relationship with us no matter who we are. Hopping off the endless grind of worldly self improvement but also finding truly meaningful and fullfilling goals are not mutually exclusive. You are just missing a spiritual piece here. 1 John 4:16 So we have come to know and to believe the love that God has for us. God is love, and whoever abides in love abides in God, and God abides in him. 2. True Self Improvement. How does anyone improve without some standard of what is best? When we say we are becoming better than implies we are moving towards a model of perfection. Philosopher Thomas Aquinas pointed out that Jesus was a perfect person, God in human form and so he is the standard for all human improvement. This is called sanctification. Because if we just want to make up our own way then we are lost. At any point we can arbitrarily move the goalposts to tell ourselves we are fine or suddenly change the steps when it “isn’t working out”. But that’s just like changing the rules of chess to give you an advantage and say you're getting better at the game. We don’t award ourselves Olympic Gold medals we get awarded and have that confidence when we meet the standard of excellence. Just like how the laws of physics and math are discovered and transcendent the laws of improvement or gradation are transcendent. They are discovered or revealed not just made up. All those self help gurus selling expensive programs, pseudo spirituality and counseling sessions because they read Atomic Habits or whatever are wasting everyone’s time. The church offers counseling, healthcare, community, spiritual care, and education all for free and with a sincere wish to help the human race. My own church has loads of people just going off to get counseling degrees just so they can better serve others. Jeremiah 8:9 The wise men shall be put to shame; they shall be dismayed and taken; behold, they have rejected the word of the Lord, so what wisdom is in them? 1 Corinthians 3:18 Let no one deceive himself. If anyone among you thinks that he is wise in this age, let him become a fool that he may become wise. Colossians 2:8 See to it that no one takes you captive by philosophy and empty deceit, according to human tradition, according to the elemental spirits of the world, and not according to Christ. Let me know if you want to talk more about this! You said you would try everything right?

Great video Felicia! I'm sorry that you are facing different struggles where people are judgmental about improving yourself. I deal with this issue a lot where it can be mentally fatiguing and hard. It gets hard when people including some peers or friends get hard on my when I struggle with my disability which is autism with a learning disability including a cognitive disability. When it comes to my disability I struggle on social issues, figuring out how to communicate with people who have different personalities, on learning subjects or navigating fast pace environment or event learning how to do a task efficiently is complicated where it causes people to get easily flustered. It can get depressing when I have struggles with my disability or when people get hard on me. There are times where I feel like I can't continue life. The best things that I can do is remind myself that I'm a human being despite challenges, having compassion including the ability to have better understanding of people who have struggles, willing to expand on knowledge including critical thinking, and gaining experience in different things like volunteer or hobbies, and many others. I'm not great at giving advice but the best thing I can say is its good to gain experience, but have the ability to be compassionate including understanding, willing to expand on knowledge including critical thinking, be creative, and remind yourself that you are a human being.

Also, I was the "good kid" as I thought if I stayed in line I would not get hurt and be accepted and loved by my parents but in the end that was not the case at all. While my younger sister who is 19 has been the "rebellious kid" who in the end alao got the same result as I did. "Good" or "bad' our parents failed us both. But now I am trying to a good older sister to my siblings especially my younger sister who my parents are treating her the same way they treated me but that is where I am stepping in to not let that happen again. Sorry for sneaking into a daughter's conversation 😅. But I have to tell that as a Asian it is even harder to be the eldest. If our siblings will get f#cked up it'd be an our fault 😢 And I agree with you that we should stay away from useless conversations. I naturally don't like to talk much about useless things. Great vid again girl ❤

No don’t apologize at all! So happy to hear from you again :) YES culture is also such a big part in this. I mainly called it “eldest daughter” because that’s what the internet’s been calling this and that was my experience, but I am certain this applies to a whole variety of people (unfortunately)

Aww haha I'm glad this video found you :) I know it's so tough to let go, but I've learned that healthy attachment means having your attachment match theirs; your attachment grows as theirs grows. Unhealthy attachment is when we get increasingly attached when they get decreasingly attached.

@@LiciaWang That's the word: 'The beauty in the pain.' Everything we've been through holds a deeper meaning. We should strive to uncover that meaning and learn from our mistakes. Wow. It's feels like i had a great conversation with someone i know since a long time 😢. And i know the pain of rejection very well. Now im afraid and i don't want to be in a relationship again to make myself suffering. Also as same as you mentioned I had bad experiences by believing my friends too. They used my kindness and innocence so trickily. When I realised that , I was too late end up making a wrong attitude in others mind towards me. My friends were secretly on a mission to ruin my name and make others hate me .I'll be better forever alone. Great vid gurl ! Keep shining 🌟

Aw, I'm glad this video resonated, and I feel your pain. I know it's hard to believe right now, but the best thing we can do for ourselves is to not let these negative experiences change how we view the world. I went through a phase where all I wanted was to be detached and emotionless, but all that really did was sabotage my potential relationships/friendships. Our strength lies in our ability to keep being kind and loving, despite being tested by low-vibe people :) We can also take some responsibility for our own lives by identifying the red flags we missed, and the boundaries we should've set!

@@LiciaWang The hardest part is that only someone who's been through this can truly understand the situation. This means there won't be anyone to help or accept what you're going through. The self-healing process is really tough, and sometimes you can't fully recover. A scar will always remain in your heart after healing, and during the self-healing process, your soul can feel numb.As a result, I still love the pain because it's the only thing I can feel. You'll also have to deal with trust issues. Now, I look at people differently and am very aware of their every little move. Sometimes it's too much, but I do it to protect myself because I love myself now. And I love that point " our strength lies in our ability to keep being kind and loving " Keep shining Luci ❤️. @@vip_izzaI totally get what you mean. As much as we need to learn to put our defences down at the right times, it’s also a good thing that painful experiences have taught us we need to protect ourselves. As much as I believe there is so much good in the world, there is also almost an equal amount of bad we need to defend ourselves from. So, we shouldn’t aim to fully heal; instead, our pain acts as a reminder that we need to remember to stand up for ourselves It’s easy to be hard on ourselves for being so defensive, but we need to remember that it’s pain that made us this way in the first place ❤

People are on a treadmill of satisfaction because a lot of young people are led astray by mainstream influencers who tell them that material wealth or the illusion of self-reverence will fulfill them. But this all seems meaningless because we could always have more, we can’t take any of it with us when we die, and we have become slaves to hollow leisure activities. Things have meaning when they echo in eternity. So if what we do with our lives has a relationship with the eternal God then our lives have greater meaning. The Bible says Proverbs 27:20 Sheol and Abaddon are never satisfied, and never satisfied are the eyes of man. Accepting Jesus and having our minds be sanctified from that will bring us true contentment in life. This is how the desert fathers could live almost their entire lives alone in the desert with nothing but bread and salt to nourish them. John 6:35 Jesus said to them, “I am the bread of life; whoever comes to me shall not hunger, and whoever believes in me shall never thirst. However this doesn’t mean that God doesn’t want us to enjoy some of the delights of this world. He just wants us to do it in a more meaningful way. Ecclesiastes 3:13 Also that everyone should eat and drink and take pleasure in all his toil-this is God's gift to man. Let me know your honest thoughts on this!
