I swear they make all the 250s. A year or two behind the 450, with all the 450 left over parts. But still a beautiful machine I love the 250fx 450 I'd a f1 car imo 😅
Did you find that the 450 is a better bike?
Holy shit! Isnt much room for error. Looks fun!
Not too much, to be sure .
The trail looks like a lot of fun ! must come out to Colorado some times :)
This is Colorado, up behind Horsetooth reservoir. But I'm down to ride.so hit me up!!!
Sorry about ass packing your bike on that trail
I would not of expected anything less. 😀
There is way more maps out there for the Yamaha. Pro lem is i tried to take this on some tech single track it beat the Hell out of me. The Sherco is straight up WAAAAY easier to trail ride and lugs super low.
It was great trail riding with you!
Yes it was!
I was in the 40 C class and had a blast. I was worried that it was going to be miserably hot... but once the race started i barely noticed the heat.
I was thinking the same. No wasn't bad at all. How did you fo?
@@badkarma8706 Got the holeshot, then finished 6th in my class.
@nealbot5000 don't know why I had such a bad day. Wasn't aggressive at all on the start. Was running 7th, got up to third. Crashed out in the trail section, back to 7th. Last place in the class.
Thanks. My last race I was running third. Dropped to fourth, trying to get 3rd back missed a double bounced, grabber a handful of throttle as I slid back on the seat, hit an off track tree, broke 3 ribs. That was end of May, so ribs still a bit tender. Going to lose some lbs. And get into race shape!😊
Nothing sucks here. Every race is a learning experience regardless of results. Only as good as your last race . Keep it up!
Thanks bud, however, I can and should have done much better.
@@badkarma8706I say that after every race ha! That’s what makes this fun and pushes us to do better in the next one.
Great looking trail. Thanks for sharing.
It's a great/beautiful trail. I do have some new vids showing most of the trail now.
How does the cockpit feel? I’m hearing the seat to foot peg ratio is tight. I’m considering this bike but I’m 6’2 and worried it’ll feel small. Coming off a 450xcf
I am 5'11" so for me it feels pretty neutral. I have been on Yamahas for years ,so they all feel the same to me. I have a Sherco as well that taller folks say they feel cramped, however I feel good on that as well.
I'm 6 even with boots. I have been riding Yamahas for a long time. I did move bars to the forward position.
Hell yeah!
Was that wheelie on purpose at :28?
My 23 was stalling easily also. I increased the idle a bit with the screw near the cold start knob. It either helped, or I've gotten more used to the bike.
I just got one of these last week. Best bike ever!
All that stalling in 1st gear ?
Definitely in second or third
It's gotta be second gear. First is so low on these bikes it's crazy
Awesome bikes
just got a 250x, i love it, but in the desert its so light the rocks kick me pretty hard, makes me miss my 450 in those situations
Is that Donner or Dinner Pass?Poudre Canyon area?I want to ride this trail.Looks fun with nice views.
Donner, 😅😅
Where you guys riding at. What country?Have fun.
That's nice 👍 I also purchased YZ450FX2024. But it's winter in Japan, so I have to be patient.
Nice👍
Nice👍
how long was he riding the ttr?
About a year ,mainly to learn clutch and shifting.
@@badkarma8706 ok
Hey, how would you compare your YZ450FX to your sherco 250 2stroke? In terms or rideability and enjoyment? Been riding about a year and half. Started on YZ250 riding mostly trails and dunes in. Fairly versed and capable of riding fairly hard and rough trails. Now looking to dabble into track riding. I'm torn between the YZ450FX and CRF450RX. Question is with the tuner app how much adjustability do actually feel? Is it night or day?
Let me say first and foremost, the 4 stroke 450's are a handful. 100% different than my Sherco. I used to race YZ250's for years. Went to 450's. I had not raced, or ridden for a.numbers of year, and decided to get a YZ250X, rode tha, but missed the gut punch of the450ss. This is an OUTSTANDING cross country or open area bike. She is a big handful on the track. I did race a GP race that was half trail like and half moto track. It was awesome. I tried this on some singletrack enduro stuff, and it beat me to death. The map switch is very cool. You can feel the difference, lots of maps you can copy from the web. I will honestly say, I enjoy my Husqvarna 250FC 4 stroke on the track, than the 450FX. I decided that during this video.
@@badkarma8706 Thanks for the feedback. I love 2 strokes and glad I started on one. I think I just gotta find out for myself. My buddy said I would be fine on it as of now with my experience but we shall see
@eazyduzit1042 so, just FYI I am 59. Been riding since 74. Bikes have come along way. If you know anyone with a 450 and a 250 four strokes, ya, check em out the same day. I really didn't know, u ril a few.months with out riding it, how freaking powerful it is. It was causing me hand cramps and more arm pump that the Husky, just because I had to hold on so much more and really had to concentrate on squeezing with my knees and relaxing my hands, alot more often. I am Fortunate, that I have the 3 bikes. Enduro, moto and definitely the 450FX will be for more open stuff.
@@badkarma8706Yeah I’ll probably keep the yz around just in case. I’m 26 and know some older guys your age that ride 450s with us. They can hang and make it up and down some gnarly stuff. They swear by them but they have been riding their whole lives. Only reason I want one is for dunes and electric start/no carb.
@eazyduzit1042 e start is a savior. On some of the tight singletrack I may kill the 450 10 times in a 100 ft. Estart is a life saver. I live in Colorado, and at elevation a tip over, pick up and kicking can wear. You out in a matter of 20 minutes into a ride.
that trail is nice and groomed! was starting to get really interesting when the video cut haha.
Sorry, bud. I certainly don't have this whole gopro thing down yet.
How is the powerband on this bad boy? I hear it comes on a little more smoothly instead of just hitting all at once. Looking into either this or the 125X.
Much more smooth and not such a hit. Well suited for trails. If it has an e start I would still have it.
Just need more feel of security, more laps - more confidence Be safe brother
Those guys are fast!
Ya ,SCARY fast!
Sorry for the late reply. Honestly it's a handful. It can be done, but thank God for e-start.😅 I just picked up a 23 Sherco 250SE Factory for the trails.
I did get a good deal very happy. I did order a SmartCarb 2, as well. I live at 5000 ft. And can get to 10K without trying. I'm 59 don't want to spend time jetting.
Thank peeps. I am digging it.! Took it out for a moto play today.
Looking forward to getting her out for sure!!
Welcome to the sherco family. Mines a 22 250 w about 130 hours and I love it. The new 24s are sweet but you get a smoking deal for the 22 an 23s right now.
Nice bike 👍I picked one up a few months ago . Awesome bike!!!
I don’t know what elevation your at but I’m at 5000 feet and go up from there. I moved the clip from position 3 to position two , with a 40 piliot , and 162 main 1 1/2 on the air screw , and it runs pretty good. I also tried a smart carb early on , but I like the feel of the carburetor better.
cool Dirtbike Brother
Badass bike, brother!
At lower speeds on the tight stuff the bike constantly sounds like it’s about to stall. Do you have to constantly cover the clutch in those situations? Have you tried changing the tooth size on the sprocket?
The bike sounds like it's in 3rd when it should be in 2nd at the highest at low speeds.
Cool bike
Thanks!
hey, how do you find the 450 in trails like this? i've been looking at a 450 but worried about using it in the slow type trails
It is a handful. Obviously, it can be done, but it is some work.
That super slow stuff is the whole reason there’s a granny gear. Use first for that stuff! And try the “magic map” is so smooth for single track riding. I have the same bike. Beautiful trail you’re on here!
I have about 12 maps loaded. I can't remember which map I was using, but the magic map is in my app and one of my favorites.
Do you have the numbers for the magic map
I just bought a 23 yz250x love the thing just wish it had a 6th gear cause I’m looking for it always
Me too even on the 450
Hey, I have the same bike and can very strongly suggest turning up the idle a good bit It'll stall a lot less and it also resolves the jerky response when cracking the throttle
I will give that a shot, I did some nasty rocky, logs and boulders last weekend,, I must have hit the estate 100 times!
Never looks as steep,on video as it is
What gear are you in in the slow stuff at the end of the video? If it's first, I'm wondering that's kind of high?
I try to ride it a gear high, to minimize the jerk of first gear.
How do you like this bike. I have a real interest in getting one. I do a lot of off-roading along with moto.
I absolutely love it. It is a bit of a handful in tight spots, however, I recently tried the "torquey"map that is a Yamaha pre-installed map. Which lessens the violent hit and allows much better off road characteristics. I love it!!
Cool video wish I had a little place like that for my 250x
I had a 250x and this was a perfect place for it!
Was your rear racetech spring pretty short?
Just seeing this now. Apologies for no response 😕 Yes the rear spring was considerably shorter. However, it took way less to get my sag correct. I initially went with stock. 5.7kg spring, and couldn't get sag without really tightening, swapped to a 6.0. I weigh 208lbs. Should have done this in the beginning. Now, suspension is like new aftermarket suspension. I love it it.
I had a 2019 YZ450FX and currently have a 2022 YZ450F. I’m using my YZ450F as a trail bike because I prefer the semi close ratio transmission, but I’m running the springs from a YZ450FX because I ride in the woods. In stock form that KYB suspension seems harsh on the initial part of the stroke, but is very plush at speed. I had both of my YZ’s revalved by M9 suspension in Redmond Oregon. They soften up the valving in the initial part of the stroke, and make it more progressive the deeper it gets in to the stroke. Now the suspension feels amazing everywhere.
I'm around 212 I did put Race Tech 48kg in the front and a 6.0kg in the back. I run them both around 10 clicks out for moto stuff and 11 or 12 out form trails. I like it. I track and change clickers alot. I only have 5.56 hours on M y bike as of today. Once I hit 10 I will see about a revalve if I think I need it. So far so good with just the stock valving and heavier springs for me.
