I had an extended abdominoplasty with breast augmentation after losing 180 lbs, this is just the start of my plastics journey but I’ll update as things progress. Stats: 5’10 175 lbs Highest weight: 350 lbs Plastics operation 1: Breast augmentation 550 cc round silicone gummy implants under tee muscle and extended abdominoplasty. 8/9/2019 VSG: Gastric sleeve surgery 1/8/2018

Hey everyone! I had VSG surgery on January 8th, 2018 and throughout my weight loss journey I have lost 180 lbs! 5 things I’ve learned through my journey of losing 100 lbs and as I continue to lose weight with surgery!
I never comment, but I am 4 days post op from almost the same procedures. I thourght that I was so strange because I felt like I was grieving for my old body. The few days before I was just super emotional and sad. I couldn't put my finger on why until I was praying and seeking Gods help on wether this was the right thing to do and it came to me that I was saying goodbye to the body I have had, And even though I was excited to start fresh and with a confidence I had never had, I still had to grieve for that old self. I know it sounds so dramatic and I have NEVER heard anyone else say that same. So when you said that, I just lost it. The tears are flowing.

CONGRATULATIONS! I just had WLS on 11-11-19. I am just 80lbs down (12 post op) and am waiting for the skin...but I have more to lose than you did! You look fantastic

When you woke up from surgery, did you feel like crap from the anesthesia? I’m worried about waking up & being sick (puking), which would be *zero* fun after a tummy tuck.
Rebecca Huber I wasn’t sick or nauseous from anesthesia but I got sick a few days after from the pain meds, which wasn’t fun, but just eat with your pain meds and you should be fine! Recovery wasn’t bad at all for me!
Your results are great. When all is said and done you will look perfect!

Can you tell me if your insurance paid for this? And if so how did you get them to do that? And if not, how much was it and did you pay for it yourself? I am at that point in my VSG journey to start thinking of doing this....I need all the information I can get.
My insurance paid for 80% of my VSG surgery but however doesn’t pay any towards plastic surgery. I looked into my insurance and different insurance policies and typically the only way insurance will cover plastics is if your skin is causing severe health issues. Normally insurance will still only cover a panicmitomy which most the time doesn’t give the best cosmetic results. It’s definitely an investment to get skin removal, and my first plastics surgery was a little over $12,000 total but worth it to get rid of the amount of loose skin I had. The cost is different based on where you are and your surgeon but depending on how much skin you have and if it effects your health my advice is to always do what makes you the happiest and healthiest!
