Magic or Medicine? Anatomy Act - Stanford Biomedical Data Science Retreat 2024
มุมมอง 40หลายเดือนก่อน
Experimental new material in preparation for a Halloween act coming up. Hit most of the core beats, but should rework to streamline some exposition. Yields more gasps and WTF's than applause, but a different kind of reaction can still be compelling. Disclaimer: Do NOT attempt any of this at home. You will hurt yourself if you don't know what you're doing. I've learned and practiced very specifi...
Mind Reading Mischief - Stanford Biomedical Data Science Retreat 2024

Testing out a mind-reading / mentalism routine that goes off the rails. Need to refine a few parts, but still got several good laughs and reactions. This should be a good basis for developing. What would you change?
Linking Rings Magic Illusion Lesson - Stanford Biomedical Data Science Retreat 2024
มุมมอง 83หลายเดือนก่อน
Performance of my updated Chinese Linking Rings routine for the Stanford Biomedical Data Science Retreat. Teaching the students how a classic illusion is created. Lots of fun along the way. Able to hit most of the intended beats. Gone Girl - Technically Missing Movie soundtrack makes for a nice, suspense-building backdrop to the magical phase of the act.
Closing the Loop - Ring Magic
มุมมอง 492 หลายเดือนก่อน
Extremely difficult sleight of hand magic routine. After pulling the ring through a finger, people wonder if there is a hole in the ring. I say, of course there is, it's right in the center. That's what makes it a ring... Perhaps what they really meant, was does the ring have a hole in it that opens and closes? Here I demonstrate, yes, exactly. Watch as the ring opens and closes into the shape ...

One of the few shows I've done that audibly made girls scream. Maybe not the kind one hopes for though ;)
If you pause it at the right moment you can see the gap your hand was hiding, well done tho 👏🏻
Please show how to do this

Remember me Alex’s freind I did a magic trick with you once remember
Hi remember me Dareen I’m Alex’s friend
bro wtf
Beautiful. Thank you.
Wild!
Everyone thinks it's a a trick ring, but no, the ring is fully examinable. They forgot to consider the possibility of trick fingers ;)
After pulling the ring through a finger, people wonder if there is a hole in the ring. Of course there is, it's right in the center. Perhaps what they really meant is does the ring have a hole in it that opens and closes? Indeed. This is what it looks like when the ring opens and closes into the shape of a coin.
I want to take this opportunity to say thank you. I had a medical emergency last year and you just happened to be my hospital doctor. I truly believe you saved my life. It's s been fun finding your videos , especially the magician shows. Keep them coming please!
Wow! Hope you're doing well. Glad when we can all get out of the hospital to enjoy some life.
Very impressive! Absolutely great presentation!
Thanks. Months of practice to sharpen the moves to make this as surprisingly magical as possible. Still trying to improve it.
This was the song that played when my wife walked down the aisle. You did great. Very well played.
Awesome. It's a beautiful song. Didn't know if many would recognize it. Did your wife or who selected it?
@@jonc101x we both kinda selected it. We wanted a piece that meant something to both of us.

Mind blown…
Nice video to watch as I wind down tonight! Well done Jonathan!
Hey, well done! I love this piece :D I have posted it yesterday, too. Maybe you like to listen and tell me what you think about my personal interpretation of it. Greetings from Germany :)
Nicely done
I learned a lot from this thank you for uploading this lecture.
The original system was called Synthesis Explorer, because it dealt with solving multi-step synthesis problems. Eventually the system was expanded to include curved-arrow mechanism diagram problems. I dubbed the latter "Mechanism Explorer" problems, so the term "Synthesis Explorer" became to specific for the overall system. Now it is the more general "Reaction Explorer" system, which includes the Synthesis Explorer and Mechanism Explorer sub-modules.
why do you call it reaction explorer when it is clearly titled synthesis explorer?
