Looking good Jay. Like Tom said, I'd paint one test spoon white and the other gray. Shoot your yellow over those then pick which one you like.

The lighter the base colour the brighter the top coat

The problem isn’t the yellow being too dark it’s that yellow tends to be very translucent with very little pigment. So it just doesn’t like to cover. You’d need a ton of coats over the gray. Recommend a white primer under yellow to have an easy bright yellow. Looking forward to seeing it. Great update. Love the Jag too. I got lucky with my hood on that one.
