I went there once when I was going to the NHRA Sports Nationals in Bowling Green in 1985. I came up a week early to visit my brother then I heard about Riverside and thought I will go race there the weekend before the Sports Nationals. The car I had was a former NHRA world record Pro Stock car that I was then running in Super Comp. I only attempted to make one run and I didn’t feel comfortable with the track and loaded up and left and went to Union Hill race track on the north side of Nashville which was a 1/8 mile track. Everyone at Riverside and Union Hill were very nice.

They talk about the " road course wringers " but thes guys cold get job done

My uncle raced out there. Why wasn't the public told about this car show? My uncle and I were there the day they (Reed draper) locked up the gates and shut the track down for good.

Dam, not only did Thay drive the wheels off, but so did Bodine. You can't put 3/5 drivers together today that can put on a show like back then, that's what's killing NASCAR

I thought Riverside was one of the Best Tracks on the Nascar circuit. Nothing but houses there now.

Back when the driver mattered most. No areo crap or splitters. Stand on the gas and slide it around. Yet I still feel Nascar was best when they started with a real car to build off

I spent many Sundays at this track, both spectating and racing. I used to race my 1970 Olds Cutlass that I drove to school everyday. Had a .0001 reaction time once and my best time ever was 14.23, after many mods to the car, mainly changing the rear end to a 3.73 pos. I have a few pics of racers if anyone would be interested in them.

I think Tim Richmond had one of the best looking cars in this era. I mean they all looked good but just something about the paint scheme sponsors just all came together nicely.

I miss this place for sure lots of memories living their for sure along with family as well .......

I know this track well. Spent a lot of time there with my dad. He and my uncle both raced there. I have photos from the 60s and 80s from races there.

NASCAR is all about 2 things. 1) Control. Drivers have handlers and PR reps. They are muzzled from saying anything NASCAR disapproves of. Their conduct off and away from the track is dictated. Track construction designs are dictated. On and on. And despite all their control NASCAR is terrified of the shaming ramifications of political correctness.
