I was hoping for a quick and easy furniture flip… #furnitureflip | #fusionmineralpaint
มุมมอง 1.3Kปีที่แล้ว
I was in the mood for a quick and easy makeover…. This was not it. Between needing to strip the finish, and then sand (A Lot…) as well as bleaching the top (and then more sanding)… this project took quite a bit longer than I had anticipated. The finished look was ok, I think the paint color was a bit dark for my taste, but overall, I’m happy with how it turned out! #furnitureflip | #fusionminer...

I wanted to flip this dresser, and had a general idea of what I wanted to do. What I planned was to add some vertical dowels onto each drawer to add some modern details. Once I got it glued on, I didn’t like the way it looked, so I had to start over. I am so glad I did. I think it came out better than I had hoped. LOVE this and the colour. It’s so beautiful & classy. The mirror fits it perfectly as well. I love your attention to detail and I think the added little touch of the stencils at the side of the drawer is amazing. I’ve seen that Howard feed n wax before. I love how it totally transforms drab tired wood. My question is when you apply the Howard wax do you need to go back later and buff it or do you just apply it and leave it to do it’s job? I used big Momma’s butta and didn’t realise at first that I had to go back over inside the drawers & the drawer fronts and buff it all. Love your work, you’re very talented and I’m learning a lot from you so thank you 😊

    • @twohandsdiy5500
      @twohandsdiy5500 ปีที่แล้ว

      The Howard’s wax doesn’t need to be buffed, but will take a day or two to absorb. I have used Big Mamas Butta also and while I love the smell and how smooth it is, I don’t care for having to go back and buff it in. Thank you for watching!

    Vaseline prevents paint from adhering. What did you use to remove it from the surface of the wood where you put the hot glue?

    • @twohandsdiy5500
      @twohandsdiy5500 ปีที่แล้ว

      I used the 4” putty knife you see in the video to gently pry it off. The Vaseline also prevented the hot glue from adhering, so with a little gentle prying it came off quite easily.

    Genius idea to use a rolling pin. Turned out gorgeous!

  • @Joe___R
    @Joe___R ปีที่แล้ว

    Since you claimed to have duped the carving, I figured you must have used a carved roller. Using wood filler epoxy putty was a good idea. Initially, I was thinking plaster since that is the traditional media used to make decorative pieces like that. But it would be too delicate for a chest of drawers. If you do it again, I suggest that you clamp a board on the long sides of the drawer front that are proud of the surface of the desired putty thickness. Then you can easily get an even thickness without having to worry about low spots.
