I am very happy, that Americans, though not being taught about the russian revolution in school, actually want to find out on their own! My family is from Russia and my grandparents went through the revolution AND both world wars, so naturally we are very much connected to everything that happened over there. When I lived in America I was being asked to speak to classes in school in North Carolina about Shostakovitch and the russian revolution, and the students soaked it all up and even asked me questions after class. I don´t understand, why they are not being taught about all these very, very important events that took place in Russia back then. It changed the country incredibly and the so called "purifications" that followed, including the starvation and hunger, all inflicted on his own people by Stalin, had a huge impact on the country! People starved to death, because Stalin burned the crops to force the farmers to work in the factories instead of in the fields! My father was only 10 years old at that time and survived...The communists were absolutely brutal to their own people and that was no "communism" at all, it was pure terrorism! Thousands of the cossack people died, many people in the towns died...it was horrible! Stalin is one of the most brutal murderers that have ever lived, and now people are trying to revive Soviet Union and "Stalinism"??? They have no clue anymore, what it was REALLY like...! My father´s generation still remembers , but thanks to all the misinformation and the lies, that are being spread by the Putin regime, the current population forgets the truth...!
