Paradigm Codes
This is a a short explanation of what a mental paradigm is. Paradigms can be implanted into our minds that accelerate our abilities, there are others that can hinder us. Sometimes on purpose and others by accident. Sometime by other people and sometimes by ourselves. How many times are children told no or that they can't do something? I've heard it takes at least twenty-one times being told yes or that you can do it, just to overwrite a single no. Even more, maybe well over a hundred times even. It seems this can vary from subject to subject and from person to person. When there's no one around to tell us something positive, we have to be the one to tell ourselves. In thinking, many times, a person will identify with their thoughts and believe every word. This is good to know because in that wisdom, we can retrain the voices towards what we know is best for ourselves and rewrite our codes.

@RhondaB4thesong I've had lots of days of doing nothing but playing banjo. I would sit for hours and watch my grandfather and his bands play around the house and on stage. I'd wish I could play! It took a lot of time. I finally got to where I could play certain songs and in 2008 I recorded with my grandfather in studio an instrumental album. You can find it free on TH-cam or purchase digital copies online through apple or Amazon and other places. I only have about five hundred physical copies left and usually sell them at shows or through mail orders. It's called Chris Dailey the original bluegrass storywriter at it, for a change. Music has that effect on people as you alluded to. To just let it captivate your attention. It's an odd feeling in a way because maybe like in my case, I desired to play and do what I was hearing others play so that I could create and perform it for others, so that they could feel the way I did.

I can’t hear a banjo without thinking of the classic movie Deliverance! One of my all-time favorites!
Yep! That's been a bit of a double edge sword for the bluegrass world. The movie along with Beverly Hillbillies, Petticoat Junction and Oh Brother Where Art Thou have helped keep the music alive but also stigmatized the culture that professionally developed it. I played dueling banjos once with the guy who played the guitar on that original movie recording, Grant Boatwright. I talk about it in my other video and show the inside of my banjo where he signed it. You can barley see where he signed it in the video but if you look at it, you'll see on the inside of the rim, a red signature. I'll do a better video one day and show it up close. His autograph says, "Pick the Chet out of it, Grant Boatwright." Thanks for the comment and May The Banjo Be With YOU!

Thanks... it took awhile but I finally got to where it should be. Taking this one to the stage in Ohio 2025. Supposed to play a custom banjo a friend of mine built before he passed and this is the song the promoter requested me to do on it.

Awesome! There are a lot of good ones out there. Several of my friends build them. I encourage getting the best you can afford or find. Not all have to be super expensive to be good.
