This lecture is nearly identical to my medical school lectures from 1983. We learned that reducing associated risk factors would treat the problem. However, associations do not mean causality. We need understand and address the root cause. I am deeply dismayed that this talk overlooked the profound discoveries in pathophysiology of metabolic syndrome over the past 8 years. No mention of carbohydrate and fructose overload leading to insulin resistance and subsequent cellular dysfunction. This ties all the downstream risk factors together. Understanding the root cause gets our patients to real fixes. Low carb, no sugar, no seed oils, and eat unprocessed food.

Eat real food. That is it. No added sugar or with carbs.

It is good and I hope I can do more in the future to encourage younger Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people to do a PhD and be a part of education and awareness to make necessary change to our Communities who are struggling with chronic disease and early death. This tide needs to be reversed.
