Classic Arcade Gameplay

Just a channel for classic arcade game play (badly played to start) and for people to talk about the games and give tips to improve my gameplay (which won't be hard to do at the beginning). But mostly to be nostalgic for the 80s dark, loud arcades.
Marble Madness Attempt 1
I feel like this was easier (to me anyway) than the original because I had a TIME using the trackball.

Zaxxon Attempt 1

Since my other upload was so small, thought I would add another smallish but less small game to today. I didn't play a lot of Zaxxon, mostly because I had issues with figuring out how to tell if I might hit a wall or not. I wasn't the brightest to think "Oh, if my laser is hitting the wall... I probably will too!".

I am SOO bad at this! I played it mostly on an Atari 2600 when I was little and could actually play it there. But this was like constantly trying to figure out what key did what and then trying to convince my brain of the result. Maybe in time I will get better (also, I forgot that you have to catch the little innocent/people if they got carried too high. Ooops!)

I believe this is one of the lesser known games (or played games anyway). I use to play it at a pizza place where I grew up (Pistol Pete's). It's a fairly easy game for the most part (even for me).
Mikie Attempt 1

I didn't play a lot of Mikie growing up. I do remember that I could get much further than this however. So maybe next time will go better.

I don't remember if the arcade game had the steering lean to the right making you have to constantly do little corrections, but it felt slightly familiar.

Another of those "blink and you miss it" games. I think/hope that I'll get more used to the firing again before too long.

Just a game of Congo Bongo. I feel like it was okay, but could probably do better in the future.

I used to play this game quite a bit, but obviously lost something along the way. Don't know if it's a joystick vs keyboard thing or just getting old. Hopefully it's... actually I don't know which I would hope for. Keyboard issue I would imagine.
Donkey Kong Junior Attempt 1

I apparently can't figure out how to do "super jumps" off the tramponines/springs in (I believe it's) level 3. I recalled that you had to push the jump button at just the right time in the arcade, so not sure if it's more difficult using a keyboard or if I just don't have the right reflexes anymore. I will keep trying though (especially since I have the same issue with the arcade game Kangaroo ...

I think this was a decent game of Pengo. I remembered playing it a bit at our arcade. Took me a moment to get going, but eventually found my groove. I'm not going to include which of the three times I played the game to get this result anymore. I can see that it likely doesn't matter too much. But I will still list it as attempt 1 (or whatever) so they can be viewed in order if desired.

So, I thought I had a good game of DK3... until I did some research online and found that my settings were incorrect. My game had extra lives at every 30,000 points instead of just one extra life at the 50,000 point mark. So, I included a note in the middle where the game SHOULD HAVE ended... but left the rest of the game after to be viewed. But I consider the score to be where the 4 lives woul...

A very short Robotron game. I'm actually not very good with the directions to run and directions to fire on a keyboard. At least for this game where there are so many enemies all over and you have to save people. Now, Smash TV is a different story (and will be told before TOO long).

The version I played at a Pizza Resturant did not play the Popcorn song, it played a totally different song.
I read that when I reminded myself that you could thump the walls to stun the sno-bees. I'm pretty sure this was the version I played, but my memory isn't what it used to be 😄
They have a game Hello Kitty Magical Blocks on Dreamcast that is a Reboot of Pengo, it's basically Pengo Rebooted with Modern 3-D graphics themed to Hello Kitty, the Time Bonus is exactly the same, I think they took the Pengo Source Code and completely re did the graphics. It's actually much easier, it's much easier to stun the Enemies by taping on the walls when they are touching it. Pengo is changed to Hello Kitty and the Snow Bees are changed to Ghosts and the Blue Diamond Ice Cubes are Pink.

Congo Bongo... I use to walk down to the laundry mat with a pocket full of quarters to play that game. Funny, I remember the clarity of the game being higher. That's nostalgia for you- everything looks better through rose colored glasses.

OMG I remember playing this! The classic computer voice that you could just make out was amazing. I found the game really hard however, so did not play it much. By the way, you can shoot the happy face ball- but it takes more than one shot to kill it.
Ah! Excellent information! I couldn't remember that (and probably never knew), but it was the same with Donkey Kong jumping over the flames in the "construction building" stage and I completely forgot that Pengo can vibrate walls to stun the enemies 😄 So much to relearn!
@@ClassicArcadeGameplay-CAG They don't come with instruction on the panel anymore, lol. I remember wanting to work for Atari when I grew up. I watched a whole group of game junkies laughingly called "Quality Control Testers" that got to play, I mean "Test" every game that rolled off the assembly line.

Well that was a pain! Could NOT figure out how to get from the bottom up to the top in that second level. Might try practicing this one a little before I try it again.

I remember that you basically got a free desperation shot when the clock was almost done. No matter where you shot from.
Odd my own comment seems to have been deleted, but... I remember that you could uppercut the opponent out of the ring. Will try getting that next time I play it.
