Mega Man World 2 (YM2413 Arrangement)
I've been messing with the Furnace tracker for a while now, and a little while ago I decided to cover the Mega Man World 2 soundtrack on the YM2413 (OPLL) sound chip. This sound chip is very limited; you can only have either 9 sound channels or 6 sound channels with 5 additional drum channels, and you can only have one custom instrument at a time. I personally feel like the chip doesn't do a portion of these tracks justice, but I'm still proud of these covers regardless; especially considering that it took me 5 days to do all of them.

Netherworld - Title Music (NTSC Version)

I don't think i've seen anyone upload the NTSC version of this music track before, (most other uploads are recorded in PAL) so I've decided to upload it myself. The music here was recorded via emulation, as I don't own a C64 at the moment. (Sorry SID purists!) However, I tweaked some of the settings on VICE to get the cleanest sound I could out of the emulated SID chip. Enjoy!

A slower version of Dire, Dire Docks (Jolly Roger Bay) I made using a drumless version of the song (th-cam.com/video/FF6zd-EHbgc/w-d-xo.html) as a base. I think it sounds pretty good, so I decided to upload it here. I also decided to extend it to last for 30 minutes.

tbh it sounds better with the faster ntsc speed, even though i doubt that's what was intended since this is a finnish game and finnland is very much in the pal region

did you know some nccv2 arcade machines actually ran the audio with this pitch? thats why they referenced it in the ports
I already mentioned that in the description, but thanks for reiterating. I think what happened is they recorded audio using a board that happened to have this higher pitch, instead of one that sounds more like what you typically hear when you run this game in an emulator.
Oh wow I didn't even know that. I always thought the Namco Museum collection just had butchered audio mastering.

It's not the Sega's fault, it's just the audio chip, from there everything is perfect, I've had it since I was 7 years old, it was in 2008 that they gave it to me, I grew up with these melodies, and I don't like it listen to a nineties sega genesis
Interesting! So you say VGM Player actually played AtGames OSTs at their original speeds instead of the speeds they had on the Firecore technology? Does that mean The Ooze and Comix Zone, two games notorious for their OSTs being at 1.25x speed on AtGames, are brought back to their intended speeds, but still incorrectly pitched? That'd be interesting to hear! I've been looking into a comination of Everdrive + VGM Player for my AtGames console to try and get more music out of it- but if the VGM Player won't retain the correct music speed, I may have to look into new options...
No, I'm saying it plays them too _fast._ Basically the VGM Player thinks it's being run on a PAL system when used on a Firecore, so it plays the music at 1.2x the speed it would be on a regular NTSC system to compensate. Unless the VGM itself is meant to play back slower than it's supposed to, it'll still run too fast. P.S. The Ooze's playback issue stems from the fact that they used the European ROM instead of the American one.
The Lower Pitch feels better for this title
1988 soundtrack sounds like something that that a modern indie dev would do now. Like a intro for a retro game channel. Brilliant stuff for the time.

For a computer that had just 64KB of RAM this just shows that it’s truly capable off
64K was really a big deal when the Commodore 64 first came out, especially at the price; heck, that's where the "64" part comes from, for those reading this comment who weren't aware. Granted though, this game came out much later in the computer's life.
Genesis also only had 64KB of memory while the SNES had 128KB.
