If you like small budget adventure style footage including 4wding, touring, camping, motorcycle rides, car racing and car shows or events then tune in and subscribe to keep up to date on what I get up to. Here at Flat Broke Adventures we like to show that you don't need to have a lot of money to get out and enjoy yourself. We like to get out and have a ton of fun doing the things we enjoy. Just because you don't have a lot of money doesn't mean you can't go out and have fun. Don't let the lack of money get you down, I like to call it investing in my mental health and this is how I do it.
CRASHING MY CF MOTO 450MT/IBEX450
I crashed my 2 month old CF Moto 450MT while riding off road with some work mates. We were at a small country town called Milbrodale which is on Putty Road near Singleton NSW Australia. I'm new to off road riding and have ridden some gravel roads but nothing like this track. I found that while gong up hill and standing on the bike leaning forward I was quite cramped with the handle bars. This restricted my use of the handle bars and me steering the bike. As I came up over an erosion mound I saw a rock step on my side of the track and thought the best action was to ride over it When my back tyre hit the rock step it jolted my right foot off the peg and was dragging behind while holding the handle bars in a superman fashion. Unable to regain control I veered to the right and laid the bike down. When the bike landed it landed on my right foot. I think the pillion foot peg/mount landed on the heal and dragged/bounced across ankle. My work mates stood the bike up and turned it round for me so I could ride it back down the trail and home. Once home I went to hospital for x-rays and was lucky nothing was broken.

CF MOTO 450MT BASH PLATE AND LOWER CRASH BAR INSTALL

Installing the factory CF Moto HD bash plate and lower crash bars. After hearing and seeing videos of the subframe filling up with water I decided to check while I was at it. Yes they both had water in them so I flushed them out with fresh water then drowned the inside with CRC. I will put silastic in the open holes so it doesn't happen again. A solo exploration trip on my CF Moto 450MT. Going from Glennies Creek to Gundy NSW through some rural areas. Coming to a road closed due to a bio hazard or something. Then back tracking 10 kilometres or so before heading back in the right direction to Gundy for the Linga Longa Inn for lunch before I headed home.

Taking my new CF Moto 450MT through Mt Royal National Park. To get to the Mt Royal National Park I rode past beautiful Lake St Clair near Singleton NSW. I love riding the 450MT and I'm a beginner to off road bikes and riding so this is a learning experience for me as much as an exploration ride.

I set off to explore 2 area's I've never been to before and find 2 land marks, which I never found. The Widden Valley was stunning as it was full of horse studs and rich farm lands. The surrounding mountains were rugged and stunning to look at. I went looking for the Oakleigh Bridge but without a phone holder on my bike I think I turned around a little early, so it's a good reason to go back. B...

Hey flat broke bloke, deadly video here! Do you have links for these bars mate ? I just bought one and began to option it up.
Finally, an honest TH-cam video on working on a vehicle. This is exactly how my 10 minute jobs turn into 60 minutes jobs - if I'm lucky! Thanks for sharing with us so we know the tricks on this.
Thanks mate. thats why I record and share these thing. So I can show hot to or how not to do things. Please learn from my mistakes.
Un piñón de 15 y una reprogramación ❤
yes I'm thinking about both but I have other things I'd rather do to the bike first.
didn’t seem that bad, would even wonder whether to call if a drop rather than a crash… if you’re going off-road you have to be prepared to accept drops like this, it’ll happen again and again, until it won’t happen anymore… (truth is that at any moment offroad you can to hit the odd obstacle you didn’t see or misjudged and go down)
Just wondering about that camera on the front of your bike . Is it a drome or something else . Hope your leg is getting better .
Its a GoPro Max 360
360 is the worst facking cammera ever
I think you would have been ok as looked like the bike sorted itself out - but I know what it’s like, your body reacts after the fact and the bike ends up on the floor. Going to get on of these next year, they look fantastic!
Yes they are a great bike and I love it. I hit a rock sticking out of the ground. My right foot came off the peg and I was unable to regain control. The bike landed on my foot. I think it was the pillion peg mount or luggage rack which landed of my heel and slid across my ankle
Glad you’re OK mate.I got an MT as well and put some dirt tires on it which made a huge difference. It’s an awesome bike..👍
@@emlsolutions thanks mate. Yes I'm mending. The bikes are great I love mine. Dirt tyres are still to come.
Mi like desde España 🇪🇦, cuanto kms tiene ya la mt, yo con un piñón de 15 y esperando la reprogramación
The bike has 1600km on it now. We can get the ECU reprogrammed here in Australia.
Looks like a solid track to go up, I think I know where that is. That's a HUGE off too! Glad you're ok mate and the bar work did a bloody good job! Heal up and get back into it soon!
Yes the bar work did a great job. Track was heaps of fun, although it was my 1st time on this type of track and I was outside my comfort zone. Road bikes don't slide like this does over loose rocks and gravel.
@@FlatBrokeAdventures My biggest piece of advice, just ride at your own pace within your comfort zone. Through that I've slowly increased my confidence and skill level and still have no issues in saying "no" to something that seems too challenging for me.
@@ADVBrett I was having great time. I saw the rock steps and thought I'm not going to be able to steer around it so I'll just go over it. Which I did but my right foot came off the peg and I couldn't recover. Just lucky I went right not left. Would have been a very different story
@@FlatBrokeAdventures So true mate, that left looked steep and long!!
@@ADVBrett yes it's very long. The trail is called Old Bulga Rd it's a Milbrodale.
Great ride up until you binned it well and truly - unfortunately the warning signs were there on your first minor off. What I noticed was the light and shadow wasn’t helping any of you guys - your eyes can’t adjust quick enough to what’s hidden in the shadows. Shame as if the light was more favourable it might’ve been a bit less dodgy. At least you and the bike are relatively ok, though that heal looked very sore. What boots were you wearing out of interest? GWS.👍
I was wearing my 7 year old budget road boots. I'm now going to get a decent set of adventure/motocross boots before I head back out.
Flat broke & broken 😭 Hope you're ok? Did you have it TC/ABS off? I couldn't tell.
Yes I did until I couldn't reach the ground and dropped the bike. I stopped for a rest and drink then and forgot to switch it back off again. So when I crashed no TC and rear ABS were turned on.. I'll have to remember that when I turn the bike off and restart it the ABS and TC are on. Thanks for watching and commenting mate.
@@FlatBrokeAdventures you are learning as are many. It's a shame it doesn't stay off on restart. But, it's only AUD$9500
@@stevesanelli90 many bike more expensive have the same problem. It's probably a safety feature for on road riding. At least I can change it on the run. Many bikes 3 times the price (Triumph Tiger) have to stop the bike to turn off ABS and TC. I can do this on the run with the press of 1 button. I'm going to get better boots and do a course for riding these things off road. I assume it was my body position which was wrong and cause this to happen.
@@FlatBrokeAdventures I still hate sand to this day. You'll work it out in no time because of your commitment 💪💪
@@stevesanelli90 I'm told these tyres are terrible in soft sand.
I almost always ride my motorcycles and side-by-side by myself. Not always the smartest choice, but I can ride at the pace I am comfortable with (i.e., slow & leisurely). I just find most groups always want to ride faster than me, which can push a person into riding faster than their skill level may accommodate, plus not allow one to "smell the roses". Glad to hear you escaped that git-off with only a good story to tell!
@@Terry-bw7qk thanks mate. I possibly was riding to fast. It was my first time offroad on such a track. I had ridden on dirt and gravel roads but nothing like this.
That looked like a nice big hill. Did the bike land on your foot.
Yes it is a nice big hill and I didn't make it all the way. And yes the bike did land on my foot. I think the pillion peg/mount landed on my heel. It's been 11 days today and I still can't walk properly and I've had to take a week off work.
@@FlatBrokeAdventureslucky. My bike landed on me in the bush 5 weeks ago. Nursing a smashed leg with newly installed plates and pins. Hope you heal soon.
@@jdabel1 thank you and I hope you heal real soon too. That is what I was worried about at the time it happened.
Well that ride looked really fun right up until it wasn't... hope you heal fast... :)
Hi John. Yes you're right mate it was a lot of fun until it wasn't. It was a fantastic workout too.
Bit depressing when bikes you’ve owned are now in a museum! :(
These bikes ae all owned by the the one person. If it was me I'd still take them out for a ride when I could.
Cheap china quality, just wait until you actually open the engine.
It's probably a KTM engine as they are in partnership. Actually CF Moto is now in partnership with Yamaha as well so who knows the origin of the engine. I don't plan on pulling it apart anyway
CF Moto have been around for a long while. My initial impressions are the quality looks great and they sound wicked! My local KTM dealer just started dealing CFMOTO and Yamaha have a joint venture with them also. I'm awaiting delivery of my 450MT. I'm going to try and put it through the same torture I did to my 300 Rally. No doubt it won't compare in some scenarios, but will excel in others. Will i eat my words? time will tell 😆
He’ll drop it within a week.
Nah it took me over 2 months
I use foam ear plugs if I'm going into the bush and water. They are cheap and you can replace them as needed. Work for me.
might try that
Good stuff, mate. glad to see you got the bash plate on. The in your bars looks the same color as mine. When i done my vid on it the haters sure come out.😅. I just fitted a bash plate on mine, it is from uncle wang, vid out soon. Cheers.
Thanks Baz. Yes it's a fiddly job thats for sure getting the bash plate holes to line up. I kept everything loose and got it done. I only did it last Monday and went riding Tuesday so I didn't have time to get new silastic but I should be able to seal them off with the bars in place I think. No haters or keyboard warriors on this vid yet. I also installed bits like front caliper guard, rear brake res guard larger stand foot pad while I was at it. I didn't have time to install the centre stand. I'll do that when I can walk again as I came off and tested the crash bars on Tuesday and the bike landed on my foot so I'm currently layed up. Thanks or watching. Cheers Jim
@FlatBrokeAdventures yep I had trouble with the lower crash bars getting bolts in . Sounds like you really tested the bars out, I watched your short vid. Hope the foot gets better soon and your back in the saddle. Cheers Jim.
@@bazz6670 thanks mate
What was the cost for bash plate and crash bars. Cheers mate
@@JamieBroughton70 bash plate was $349 I think and lower crash bars were $89 I think. All prices are on the CF Moto Australia website
@FlatBrokeAdventures cheers selling my Africa twin for one of these. Can't wait for next video
@@JamieBroughton70 awesome I'm sure you'll love it. The lack of power compared to the AT will be a big difference as will the weight
A hammer? My god man .
@@brucemonighan2925 yeah thanks mate
If you didn't ride through any water crossings on your ride and before you wash the bike, you can put silastic in the holes of the subframe without taking them off. Just put a little silastic on your finger and push it into the hole.
True thats what I would do if I was buying now. _t's what I will do when I get more silastic
Un piñón de 15 y una reprogramación ❤
I have thought about both. Not sure if I'm going to do it though
Honestly, I liked the original engine guard better. This new one has a bit too much straight lines for me. But it's all part of the taste. But this water collection is a big mistake of the constructor. They have to solve that!
The original engine guard is very thin, it's fine for all road use but if you want to go off road then it isn't enough and doesn't protect the sides of the engine at all. Yes this water is a real issue. I will be blocking the holes to make sure this doesn't happen again. Thanks for watching an commenting
@@FlatBrokeAdventures Greetings and all the best!
Una repro y piñón de 15

Mi like desde España 🇪🇦 falta un piñón de 15 y una repro
Hello. No I don't have the 15 tooth sprocket yet. I will wait and see how much off road use the bike gets before I decide to put that on.
What size does it have?
It has the factory CF Moto large screen
Gee , hope you are ok
Yeah I have a sprained ankle as the bike landed on my foot
@@FlatBrokeAdventures lucky mate
Geez, they sound good to me 😎 Looking forward to getting mine in September 🍻
They do sound good and I'm loving it. Good luck with yours mate.
Thanks for the video. Sorry to read about your "Get Off" Get well soon. I watched your entertaining video about the seat height mod and would like to know if the change had any effect on the bikes handling, either on or off road? I sat on a 450MT and could only just reach the ground on tiptoes. (Ducks Disease) The mod you did would be essential if I do submit to the temptation of buying one.
I can't tell any difference in the handling with lowering the bike. I didn't touch the forks, they are the height the factory set them. One thing though is that the side stand is now a tad too long. I've also put the larger foot pad on the stand.
Looked like a very nice ride... that 450 sounds really good... :)
Hi John thanks for watching & commenting. Yes it was a really nice ride and one that I will do again. Yes the 450 does sounds really good. Unfortunately I crashed it on Tuesday. The bike is OK and very lucky I installed the lower crash bards and bash plate on Monday as the crash bars really saved the bike. Me on the other hand I'm a bit busted up as the bike landed on my right foot and I still can't walk. I'll be good in a couple of days.
@@FlatBrokeAdventures Sorry to hear that but at least the bike is ok... :)
@@ozarksbackroads5484 thanks John. I'll have to take a couple of days off work unfortunately
@@FlatBrokeAdventuresThat’s bad luck but adventures will bring spills eventually…..glad you and bike are relatively ok. Just out of interest what bash plate are you using? - I liked the look of the B&B one. Are the crash bars oe or aftermarket? I’m thinking of going for just the top bars and that hefty B&B plate as it’ll just about protect everything down there in a spill looking at its clever design in protecting the side covers and rear linkage as well.
@@RichardS-qh8mi I'm running CF Moto factory bash plate and crash bars. That way i know everything fits properly
Dude I hope you stay strong and fix it fast if you are ok. hello, this is the main thing!!! We are waiting to hear from you 🙏🏻🙏🏻
Hello thanks for watching and commenting. Yes I'm ok. The bike landed on my foot and it's very sore and I can't walk on it yet but I will be fine. The only part of the bike that got damaged was the crash bars, so that's good and it means they did their job
Dropped mine at least 10 times already and it's a brand new bike. Also glad I put the crash bars and thicker bashplate, like you did!
Yes the crash bars do their job well. Safe riding my friend and thanks for watching and commenting
Pero que teta sos manejando jajjajaja

Only thing wrong with most of the bikes is the fact that they look better than the factory made them.

I’ll say it again and keep on saying it - one of the best sounding bikes on the market regardless of capacity.
yep I totally agree
It sounds awesome at lower speeds but gets a touch loud at highway speed. That's when you need ear plugs👍🏼
