Soon to be replaced by 4 car 150s on the Rhymney route unfortunately. This will only be a short term measure until the 798s are introduced on the route. The 231s are being transferred to the Pontypridd routes im tome for the June 2024 timetable.

Great video it’s sad to see all those unused locomotives just rusting away and did the first great western diesel locomotive get used ? I don’t know remember it’s number by some are still in service between Cardiff and Penzance . I think they are called castles or one is named after it

Splendid footage of the gala my good sir, I have liked & subscribed to your channel! I enjoyed the sheer variety offered in your coverage, with a mixture of interesting viewpoints as well as onboard shots on display. I took particularly interest in the brake van rides filmed from your perspective, and seeing the L&Y Put shunting about Winchcombe station limits was a great sequence too! I managed to get some lineside footage during the gala, being fortunate enough to have got some phenomenal displays by the fleet; my video coverage is now up on my channel should you wish to take a look. These would be perfect for the North Downs Line (Reading-Redhill/Gatwick). Dual Voltage AC/DC, with a diesel modular pack in the middle (which can be removed if the Line ever gets fully electrified lol), imo.
