Apple Vision Pro will change you
Like many, I'm excited about Apple Vision Pro, and other upcoming virtual and augmented reality devices. But beyond fancy tech and the novel experiences it promises, these devices also carry obvious risks for our mental health.
In this video, I'm examining how high-fidelity VR can help people from mundane reality, and what sort of consequences this technology might have for vulnerable people.
**Some notes for my subscribers:**
• This video has lighter editing than my other videos. It's an opinion and commentary piece, and it has a more conversational style than my past work. Let me know what you think about all these changes :)
• I used DALLE-3 to generate some imagery to support the narrative. Consider this a creative experiment!

Why Build Quantum Computers?
มุมมอง 927ปีที่แล้ว
Quantum computing hype is at its peak. We pour billions of dollars into this field despite the macroeconomic downturn. It looks like new and exciting developments come out every month. Despite all of that, reliable quantum hardware or useful quantum algorithms aren’t in sight. So, why are we still doing this? I got curious and spent the last few weeks learning about the deep reasons for this ga...
The massive promise of space factories

Several months ago, California-based Varda Space launched the world’s first commercial space factory. UK-native Space Forge will likely come in second by the end of 2023. In light of their progress, it’s easy to forget that space-based manufacturing had humble beginnings. Decades of toil, failed dreams, and broken promises preceded recent breakthroughs. Today, orbital fabrication is on track to...
This technology will change AI (and us)
มุมมอง 13Kปีที่แล้ว
Organoid intelligence is an emerging field in computing and artificial intelligence. Earlier this year, an Australian startup Cortical Labs developed a cybernetic system made from human brain cells. They called it DishBrain and taught it to play Pong. The roots of this exciting technology go back 60 years. But while it's still novel today, it's already superior to conventional deep-learning AI ...

Starship can carry 100 tons of payload, which basically turns it into a freight train to space (the SpaceX Dragon craft is more like a pick up truck in that sense). From an economic perspective, this crazy capacity makes reusability super attractive in the short term to accelerate the development of cislunar space: • Refueling of other vehicles in LEO and beyond with fuel tanker Starships • Hauling payload to the Moon to set up and operate a waypoint base there Right now, there are public and private customers who are willing to pay for such services. That, in turn, will pay for the CapEx infra costs to set up Starship production facilities. Beyond that, the economics is a bit nebulous. Using Starships in cislunar space - sure, there's a clear market here. Using them to sling goods and people to Mars and never return - I have some doubts about this 😅

What you presented though seems to be a more comprehensive checking out of reality, and a sort of plugging into a matrix. I suspect that both physical and mental health are greatly affected though mental might be both detrimental and beneficial whereas physical would likely just be detrimental. I don’t think society can prosper and thrive in virtual reality. At some point society will collapse or people will have to unplug.

I gradually became a more and more relaxed person, and it’s only recently I’m gently coming back to psychedelics. So if I were you, I’d stay away from them for the time being. • @Futureflux

    • @betterlifeexe4378
      @betterlifeexe4378 ปีที่แล้ว

@@Futureflux One of the other things that could happen to these materials is they can be bombarded by radiation. When you're talking about things that are so precise that you have to remove gravity from the equation, radiation becomes a big problem. And the cost would be exceedingly high. I don't know of anything that would be worth it to construct in space, we're pretty good at making nanomaterials here. It's mostly about figuring out how to configure them in the first place, which is driven by AI and expanding computational power. The impetus is low and the cost is high to do anything like that for more than just research. So I guess agree to disagree?

I've been listening to a lot of people like Kyle Hill, Veritasium, and others. When I clicked on your video, I thought you were another big production TH-camr like the people that I have been watching/listening to prior, assuming so by the way your video was structured and by the way I could tell how much effort went into it, it seemed like you had an entire team working with you on this research as so many other channels have. When I came down to the comment section to give you props on the video's high quality production and to thank you for offering the information through your video, I noticed there were only 6 other comments - way less than the couple hundred I'm used to getting lost into!
