I was born in Dodoma in 1945 and my father ran a butcher on 8th Street . Our neighbours were Thawer who had a bicycle business , Kara Rajwani who had a flour milling business , Dosani who ran a shop , Kachra who also had a shop and in 1956 when Allykhan came to open the Aga Khan School the Mukhi was Bhojani and they bought a Pontiac with registered number plate DO 12 . I remember the richest Ismailias like Nasser Damji , Bhojani brothers , JafferLadak , Ahmed Remtulla etc and the two movie halls - Remsons and Paradise . I and friends played on the sands with friends when JK was being built and i remember occasions when there were dandya celebration . I love my home town Dodoma .

I went to Mkwawa High School for A-Levels, 1975-77, so the town brings back sentiments buried for a while.
