Great video, some great locations too. I'm a local lad, grew up on Mill Lane, and Dorridge was my home station. The Widney shot reminded me of school crosscountry running. I went to Arden in Knowle. All the fields we ran through to the Blythe have been built over since I left school (1972). We crossed from Browns Lane into what is now the cemetery on Widney Manor Road, down to the river crossed it ran towards Widney station, recrossed the river and back along the field to the cemetery back to school. All in an hour and a half. I was no good at football, lol 🤣. Great memories, thank you 👍👍👍👍

Tears my heart apart to see another tower closing. Ohio (USA) once had hundreds, if not over a thousand. Grew up as a kid bugging the operators at MN tower in Mt. Vernon. :(

@Hanglands we are not 100% sure when normal service will resume as we have had to do so much work and still have a lot to do !! its the same old story not enough members ... the websites will be updated as and when we have good news . you will be impressed with what we have done ! we have a new quarry line new head shunt new mainline new platform new car park a digger play pen plus more !!!!

@AlS142 A fair point, but at least you don't get a situation - as at Cardiff earlier in 2011 - where one small problem, such as an electrical failure, knocks out all the signalling for many miles around and causes mass disruption!

Would you know the Sentinel builders number? If it was a visiting loco, where is it normally based? Good little video!

Why change them if they work so well? They allow so much more flexibility than computerised systems and are in general a lot more reliable!

A very sad day indeed. I'm a signal man myself who's box will be closing in the very near future. The loss of these boxes is almost criminal. I hope you have all been offered new jobs and best of luck for the future.

That Distant seemed quite easy to pull, compared to the others. Is it a coloured light Distant?
