I went to Kirkby College of Further Education 1972-74. I don't remember any of this except the Back Bull. It's a disappearing world.

This is an excellant piece of work which is down memory lane for those with connections to The Malayan Teachers College in Kirkby. Thank you for your enormous effort in producing this master piece.

I have very many from 1954 to, 61 as my dad lectured there and we lived on campus, first in flat 2 then in flat 20. I remember the joy of being part of a rich multicultural society. I had Easter and Divali, Christmas and Dragon day. As a tiny child, my first experience of Shakespeare was from the students in the most glorious costumes in "A Midsummer Night's Dream" I was far too young to have any idea of what was going on, but I was still enthralled!

@@ccheqq At that time we were living in downtown Liverpool, several students and teachers visited the house on one occasion, and I have a couple of photographs of the group outside of the house. We had several reciprocal visits to the college after that. Memories fade with time, however from the photographs, I can see that I was quite young.

I lived in Delaware crescent westvale in the 1950 s till I was 27, Went to Westvale school near the college. My greatest memory of the college was that our next door neighbor Albert was the chef at the Kirkby teachers training college where the Malayan students studied. There was a chip shop situated by the side of the railway track, just by the entrance to the college. When the students left it was like it fell abandoned but for the gardening club which my eldest brother and my dad Kenny attended every week. When the students disappeared a multitude of sports equipment was left behind, this is where Albert comes in, let's say he rescued all this stuff and recycled. On the waste ground at the back of Delaware crescent homed the smartest ten year old cricket team you have ever seen. We had a full set of cricket trouser,s jumpers, wickets, bats, bails and loads of propper balls . we had great fun, we had to roll the jumpers and trousers up at least five times to get them to fit.So I thank you Malayan students for liking Cricket so much that us poor kids had the benefit of your love of the sport.

I well remember a school outing to the College from my Primary School (Cherryfield). This would be about 1971/72. I remember being struck in the science room by a huge midel of a bee showing internal anatomy. We moved to the area in 1972. Not sure when the college closed.
