Replacing the Rear View Mirror in Vintage VW Bus
After enduring the harsh effects of the sun's UV rays, my rearview mirror began to deteriorate, ultimately leading to the mirror itself falling out. Recognizing it was time for a replacement, I sought recommendations and discovered Wolfsburg West-a place where I had previously made purchases and was impressed by their service and quality. Without hesitation, I ordered a new rearview mirror from them. Their efficiency in shipping meant that I received it in less than a week! However, I faced a challenge with the removal of the old rearview mirror from my 1973 Volkswagen bus, as I had no prior experience with this task. Thankfully, I received guidance that involved pulling the mirror towards the passenger side with a strong yank-a method I was initially apprehensive about, fearing potential damage. To my relief, the old mirror came off successfully. Installing the new mirror was straightforward and required doing the opposite of the removal process. The new mirror fit perfectly and transformed the look of my vehicle's interior.I'm extremely satisfied with the quality of the new mirror and the exceptional customer service provided by Wolfsburg West. Their efficiency, quality products, and helpful advice made this experience remarkably positive.

We’ve watched many videos about volkswagen westfalia tops, and it sounds like we should paint it. It seems kind of intimidating. What would you do and how would you do it?

A short video of the interior of my 73 VW campmobile bus. After decades of wanting a VW bus I found this one on Facebook Marketplace and just had to have it. Owning a vintage Volkswagen Westfalia camper can be a uniquely enjoyable experience for several reasons: Nostalgic Charm: These buses embody a sense of nostalgia, harking back to the 1960s and 1970s, a time often associated with freedom, a...

Today, I had the privilege of rolling through the scenic lanes of Memorial Park, a lush 65-acre haven nestled at 60th and Underwood Avenue in the charming Dundee neighborhood of Omaha, Nebraska. This park, a tribute to the valiant men and women from Douglas County who've served in our armed forces, holds stories of bravery and freedom within its grounds. 🇺🇸 In celebration of its 75th anniversar...
It’s condensation. You’re not warming the engine up to operating temps long enough.
- Would that have anything also to do with the horrible noise the engine's making and the oil coming out of the tailpipe? I appreciate your time and advice.
The valves sounds very bad why he doesn’t talk about it 🤔
Adjust your values dude! It's air cooled so that's not water mixing with oil... unless your mechanic hates you?
There usually is a flat aluminum rod attached to the rear hatch hanging the curtains and a springy line on bottom of window so they stay when you open them. That’s how it’s been on all mine
Thanks! I didn’t know that. I am going to call around to try to buy some.
My 73 westfalia has 2 flat aluminum rods on the back. 1 for top another for bottom
There is a special cork gasket that attaches this and all similar channels and frames to glass. Any glass shop can help you. Do not DIY it. Very inexpensive to go and have it done correctly.
RTV Black would work.
Maybe a dew drops of rear view mirror adhesive.
Love your Bus! You did a great job! My Bus (Betty) used to be a pop top that I converted to a high top. I used a marine grade paint called Interlux Brightside Polyurethane Y4259/1. It’s pretty pricey but worth every penny! Keep chugging along and much love Bus bro 👊🏼✊🏼
Thats to absorb road and powertrain noises
It's a liner. I would assume similar to a truck bed liner that gets sprayed on. Probably to help with cleanup when it gets muddy inside.
Sound dead reduces the noise you need this
Rubber plug is to drain the water or anything that fill the hole!
