    This is huge and hits so many in so many facets and so many ways, yours was a valid and appreciated perspective. Thank you for the video and a chance to step back and observe how this can affect others and even me. It’s not easy but so necessary to share that part that isn’t so easy to share. Thanks again.

    Tell me why this showed up on my algorithm the day I can't find anything to watch (normally I got tons of recs I love to watch through) but today I was refreshing the home page a bunch of times then came across your video. I immediately got emotional and teary-eyed sorry for being so dramatic lol but really! I actually am in the same boat as you! There's so many things I want to do (I'm 32 and I feel like I haven't fully lived my life yet always busy taking care of other people and putting their needs first). I'm so scared to post things publicly but I mustered up the courage to start my TH-cam channel again. When I look back at my old archived videos, I think to myself "where did that confident girl go that once would talk in front of a camera for hours and just post videos?" Because when I look at those old videos, it's definitely cringe. Another goal of mine is to pursue art finally. Like really pursue it! I bought some books and courses so I'm determined but at the same time I probably have ADHD and I rarely can ever focus haha! But that's why I decided to combine the two, I'll be documenting my art journey on TH-cam! Yay! Can't wait to see your progress *new subscriber* <3

    Hii Ali!! I've experienced imposter syndrome lots, mostly from comparing myself to other artist friends that I made along the way. In my head, I place this thought that now that I'm friends with these artists, I have to meet their level in skill or else I'm a leech, so I kind of hide and slowly zone out from that position by not posting and not interacting anymore. Feelings of unworthiness. I've been focusing on self care, talking to a therapist, and being open to how I feel about this to a close friend of mine and the walls are slowly coming down. And I'm glad that you made this video because there's a comfort that I feel that I'm not alone in feeling this way, so thank you for helping me on this journey!

    I grew up among professional musicians where critique of one's performance was a normal and expected part of your everyday life and none of us would take it personally. The whole idea of having to ask for critique is weird to me because I expect to receive if people care about me and want me to do better. But I guess it's a vastly opposite perspective from that of most people online. When I finally got internet and started interacting with people in Western countries, I had to learn that they take everything personally and it was very strange to get used to since to me detailed critique is a sign of caring.

    • @interruptingPreempt
      @interruptingPreempt หลายเดือนก่อน

      Oh, same here. I grew in a healthy art setting where critiques were expected and were not presented nor taken as a judgement of personal character. When it is from the right people, it is care, and a desire to see you thrive. It has dismayed me a little that so much of the internet can't separate the two, whether they are giving or receiving.

    If I only had 1 advice to give to any artist, new or seasoned, that is struggling with whatever thoughts & feelings reguarding their art is; remember why you do art in the first place. 99% of the time we create cause it makes us feel good, its something we need for our heart & mind. Every negative (not earning money on it as an example) is sencondary to that, every positive (earning money on it as an example) is a bonus.

    I think my imposter syndrome comes from the fact that out of 18 cousins born on my father's side of the family, I am the only (only) artistic person. My youngest sister is a very talented artist... But like all our other siblings and cousins; she is sporty. Both my parents, as well as all my father's siblings, and all these cousins and my own siblings have been in the newspapers about their sport... I am not sporty. I am 100% Artsy Brained... And ever since I can remember I was always told that my art or project ideas was a phase that will pass, so it was NEVER encouraged, or I was asked "oh where did you see that now" - like I have no ideas of my own. I had to work odd jobs as a kid to be able to buy all the nice pencils and clays and I walked myself to the public library for books and references. TH-cam (when it started as an educational platform) became a refuge for me. My mother's phycologist friend even promised her that I will outgrow this 'childlike phase' by the time I am 33 years old... Like I would just wake up one day and be a completely different, more responsible and less me type of person... To this day, when I share something with a parent I only get a 'oh that's nice' and then get sh*t on for not rather spending time on the house and my kids. The fact that I encourage my kids are also frowned upon. I have only very recently gotten the courage to start everything I have always wanted to do, but still with little to no support. I don't know, this must be such a depressing share with the world, and you are welcome to take this off... But if someone as beaten down as myself can get my head up and try, so can anyone else

    What a great first video!! There's sooo much wanna do that it often gets overwhelming to even start. I wanna build my art skills, work on art portfolio, find a job, post on my socials, go outside more often, etc. As a 23 year old living with their parents my main focus is to move out and stand on my own two feet! It's scary though but I'll try my best! I'm excited to see where this journey takes us! Wishing you luck🌼

    Such a great and important discussion to being up!! I don't think I'll ever reach a point where I'll stop feeling like an imposter. It's something I've weirdly accepted that no matter where you are in the world there's always someone better than you. Until you realise, that there's also someone struggling more than you. That's when im like huh, im just in an infinite loop of the feeling of being sussed out like the others. It's hard for me to see anyone as an imposter, because everyone starts and develops at their own pace as per their circumstance! Unless I see you vent.....im voting u

    I'm about to start my bachelor's of architecture in about a month and even though I got into the best university my country has to offer, I already feel behind my peers. I never decided to persur architecture becz I was particularly interested in the subject but more like the subject was a mixture of things I liked (science and arts). This video was definitely brought to me by the universe and I'm so glad I saw it!! Imposter syndrome is so horrible but I hope that I can cope up with it before it consumes me

      Oh my goodness I absolutely relate! I majored in architecture for a while in college for the exact same reason, the mixture of art and physics. I remember going to my classes and there were days where it felt like I was exactly where I needed to be and days where it felt like everyone knew what they were doing but me :'D I bet you most of your peers are feeling the exact same thing you are and everyone's scrambling to find their place. But in a few weeks you’ll start to realize how much you’ve learned in a short amount of time. Then it’ll get a bit easier and a bit easier as times goes by. Keep with it! You’ve got this!!

    My goal for the next few months is to get into a solid art routine. Right now it's on and off, very irregular. I want to create more custom bullet journals for friends and family. Maybe starting to sell them to other people outside my usual bubble. And lastly, I've been putting off to make videos and upload them too. I've got the footage and it's waiting to be eddited since over a year, but I'm really self conscious about one ugly fingernail due to an accident. In the beginning there won't be many people watching anyway, but that blockade is still up and I want to overcome it 😤🎨🖌️

    July 16th 2024 is when I am writing this, and right now I feel so scared. To try new things, to pursue my passion, I fear that I might just get lost in an ocean of other creators putting out work - I would like to be seen. I have a passion, to write a book and illustrate some pages. I am too intimidated to do a graphic novel, and I really like writing so this works for me. I want to animate, to 3D sculpt, to write, to make music, to have my own art business etc - it's a lot. I get very overwhelmed... how to keep going??? because I know how to research, to resource gather (mostly). I can critically consume and practice yet I stop because I don't feel ready. The tdlr is; want to do is tell a story. many stories. but I stop because I don't feel ready despite the preparation. It's a leap of faith, and I am very scared I haven't warmed up enough. <3 love the video, you've got yourself a subscriber keen to watch your TH-cam journey!!
