Making Hexies

Learn how to make Hexies for English Paper Piecing, making pillows, project bags or runners! Step by step tutorial.
Thank you!
I use a single paper hole punch to punch a hole in the center of my papers. When you want to remove the papers from your hexi you can use a crochet hook to put in the hole and push the paper out-easy and no accidental torn papers.
Great tutorial
Love it
Just use hexiform.
I have tried those! It's another great alternative!
Loved your tutorial. More videos to follow? Bets (Canada)
❤❤❤
I love making hexies at night watching tv
I love the idea of keeping the basting stitches in. When it comes to the lighter fabric why don't you put both layers and baste both and iron at once? Yes it is thicker but I think it would save you time. You probably already have tried this.
Thank you so much for this. I used glue on the first hexies I made, but thought it gross and unsatisfying. I've switched to thread basting on my cuurent no-hexie epp project, but I'm looking forward to trying your exact method on my next hexies. In fact, I'm going to do a few hexies right now just to embed this in my brain. Thanks again!
Couldn't i just starch the crap out of some white fabric and use that to create the hexigons and just leave it in there permanently? The first wash will get rid of the starch.
I'm actually not sure if that would work. If you do try it, let me know how it works out! the extra white couldn't hurt to be left in.
Can you use Elmer’s glue
Love these colour combinations and the garden
Hi, i would like to order this kit.How do i order this gardening kit from and how much please? Im in Australia 🇦🇺
I see this is an older video but if you are still answering comments, can you tell me where you got your storage box? I’ve been searching for one like this and I can’t find one that has this configuration.
Thank you this has helped big time
Love this option of gluing the hexies right on the fabric! Would Aileen’s glue be too thick for that?
I use a wonder chip to hold the fabric as I stitch around the hexie paper while moving the clip.. Pins tend to bow the paper, and skews the hexie on me.
Please tell me the attachment name that goes on top of the walking foot? I have been looking for months (my walking foot doesn’t have holes and I need to buy this attachment ❤ I know this video was awhile ago but please help me out!!!!
Thank you for your tutorial! Great ideas. I have tote full of hexagon’s and want to make curtains but could not figure how to do! Thanks again!
Thank you for this video. You answered questions I didn’t know I had. 🙃 So excited to try!
Where did you purchase Hoxie papers from please ❤
Hexie lol
Absolutely love the colors!
So beautiful!!!
VERY QUIET LOTS OF TROUBLE MAKING THE HEX.
I love the little bag you made. I have so many hexies made, but wasn't sure what to make. Love this!!
How would you use this tape when sewing “scant 1/4”?
you can line your fabric up to the inside of the black line and it works great!
Thanks for the simple directions for putting the tape on the machine and then using it for HST and flying geese
If you use a hole punch on the paper hexi, you can pin inside the hole to hold your fabric to the paper. Makes it easy to remove the paper also.
How can I find that adorable gardening fabric? And coordinating
Thank you so much. Your teaching style is excellent, I was wondering how to use my washi tape. Please make more videos. Could you link the lock block cutting tool you mentioned?
Great explanation and good close ups Thanks
Love this idea!
Greater t instructions and a nice way to save the papers stay reusable, rather than over worked with needle basting.
Don't take the papers out until it's been joined on all sides.
I’m still on the hunt for a SEWING hexies tutorial. Every video I see uses glue. I don’t want a gluing tutorial. 😑
Kate over at The Last Homely House has some great thread basting videos. She has a playlist for Agnes’s quilt.
Why do u have the 1/8? Space in between the hexies-What and why- this space-u did not say
This is the absolute best video on a ban roll hem! I've seen others but you explained it step by step. Thanks so much! 😊
Thank you so much!! This comes in handy hemming all those dresses for my girls 💗
So you don’t stitch all sides down of each hexi’s???
Nope! Isn't that so cool? I have washed runners made with this technique and it washes up fantastic!
Excellent tutorial.. great video and very detailed instruction. Most skip over this part.. they don’t actually show you how to work with Banrol. Many thanks.
do you think drywall tape mesh would work the same way? ban roll is so expensive
It is expensive but you can reuse it for years. I’ve never tried to pull the edge on drywall mesh … does it ravel easily? Also, is drywall mesh as smooth as ban-roll to allow it to be removed easily from delicate fabrics without catching? How well does it hold up after using several times? Since it is not as expensive maybe try it on several types of fabric scraps and see how it works.
That’s a great question! I have never thought about that…if you try it let me know how it goes!
If your hexis get "too" wrinkled... Ironing them with a dry iron really helps. 💖🌞🌵😷
How would you hem fabric that frays, like Indo or Pongee lining?
Amazing!
So helpful!
Wow!! This is really slick. Thanks for the great tip!
I've not seen any sewist use liquid washable glue to hold their Hexie Pieces onto their final product. This is a neat Idea!! ❤ Thanks for sharing your Hexie techniques with us!! I'm so happy that I found your channel!! Thanks bunches!! And your quilt is looking AWESOMELY AMAZING!!! ♡♡♡♡
Thanks!!!❤
