Its interesting seeing the various National Trust properties, as we have recently joined English Heritage and are looking to join the National Trust once this subscription ends. It is certainly a beautiful building inside and out.

A lot of Guildford needs a facelift. A lot of the riverfront needs redevelopment which the council has had plans written up for many years now, but everything to do with planning and building in this country is far too slow. At least the train station, Debenhams and the brownfield site off North Street are all now being redeveloped. The train station will become a nice, modern, bustling gateway to Guildford. Debenhams will be turned into attractive apartments with riverside shops. North street will become a vibrant shopping and residential area bringing more life to the town. Guildford, being the size it is and the 'county town of Surrey' needs a larger modern indoor shopping mall. Something like this with a cinema complex on the current Odeon Cinema site / car park would be the best place for it. Walking across the bridge from the train station straight into the shopping centre.
