Miniature Spiral Notebook | Tutorial Tuesday #4 | DIY Doll & BJD props
I hope you like this new tutorial. There's always the need for tiny notes to write for class, make daily entries in a journal or (in Adley's case) list down the clues for a case.

Using Brush On Sealant + Sponge for BJD Faceup | Part 2
มุมมอง 17K7 ปีที่แล้ว
I use a liquid sealant with a cosmetic sponge to seal layers for a faceup. If you'd like to try this I recommend you do your first attempt on a practice faceup to get used to sponge application. If this method works for you, I'd love to hear about it and see your faceup results. :) Check out the Den of Angels thread here: denofangels.com/threads/tips-for-brush-on-sealant.720030/ -April ~ instag...

These characters are from my WIP mystery series 'Smile Villain Smile'. And wow, this is quite a different sort of feel from my previous photo story. Hello can I use this liquitex matte varnish for Acrylic paints for my doll nails?
Can i use a cotton ball instead of a sponge? I dont have a sponge laying around
This so useful, I want to try doing faceups but I cant even use the sealant outside because I have chickens, thank you for this!
this is low-key an asmr video
This is so useful! It’s really hard for me to find the right weather and time to get the sprayed sealant done, so this would be so much more convenient! Does this sealant come off with the brush cleaner as well?
Thank you very much for making this tutorial a few years ago. I have eye sensitivity and trauma with aerosol chemicals because I had an accident with an aerosol while wearing protective glasses and a gas mask. Before the accident I bought MSC to customize my BJDs, but I never used it for fear of having an accident on my eyes again. I don't know if you will answer this question, but I would like to know if Liquitex varnish has a strong smell, since my eye sensitivity cannot cope with vapors and odors that are too strong.
Ty for sharing, I will be trying this method as I have a new doll series coming up with bjd resin dolls. Can this also work for polymer clay sculpted dolls?!? I will also be using watercolor pencils.
Can I ask why you need to clean the doll first?
Can I just use it on my doll lips without messing with other face details. Coz I want them red not pale.
Good morning! I have some questions! Would this method work well on vinyl dolls like Dollfie Dream? Also, do you know if this would work with an MSC top coat? I'm interested in combining the methods for heavy protection and quicker drying times.
This is WILD! But Like this a lot!
Лапуся!😍
Hi I am relatively new to the Dolly artist community. 💕🤗💕 I just wanted to let you know that you did a terrific job on your face up!! 🤗💕 It turned out really lovely. 🌹😊💕 I also wanted to confirm that this product is non-toxic? I did see the AP label on the bottle but I wanted to know if you ever encountered any respiratory issues while using this? I have both the matte and gloss. I didn't notice a bit of an odor with the first layer. I wanted to know if this were normal? I'm really trying to stay away from toxic chemicals such as mr. Super clear or any other aerosol with similar Hazzards. Any support from you or the community would be much appreciated .🤗💕 Happy crafting! 🙏💕
Thank you!😊
Will this sponge on sealant work on a vinyl doll face such as my Chatty Cathy? I need a darken the freckles and eyebrows and also put blush on her cheeks
This is the method aplied for making newborns baby (air dry tehnique instead of Genesis baking method). Thank you for sharing! 😀😃🙂🙃😊😇
I bought MSC recently because I wasn't sure which to get, perhaps I should've got this sealant. I wanted a less toxic one because I live in apartments and I sure don't want to leave my doll head outside to dry. I've painted vinyl reborn dolls before with different sealant and did the same thing with dabbing it on. I'll be sure to get this as well when I go to order the gloss!
I had that popular spray sealer in my cart on Amazon, will be cancelling that and getting THIS thank you so much!! ❤my health thanks you too....
Is this removable with Windsor & Newton brush cleaner? The only Liquitex matte varnish that I can find says that it's permanent and non-removable on the front of the bottle, and I'm not sure if they've simply repackaged it or if they've also changed the formula...
Beautiful job!!👌
thanks for this i may try this with one of my dolls that i want to re do the face on. ive been using msc but even with a respirator and being outside that stuff gives me a headache lol
Hey, i have a question. Does the liquitex matte varnish spray work aswell? I dont know it it works the same or if it has different effects. Ty!
Just so you all know, this varnish will smudge watercolor pencils, and it will get sticky after a few weeks in high humidity areas if you don’t seal with mr super clear
What does Mr. Super Clear do? Also, do I have to add that
Hi! I know this is an old video, but I've been getting into doll repaint and I've been looking for alternatives to MSC since I cannot import it to my country. So I just have one question (and if anyone can help, that'd be great): does this technique work on doll faces made of vinyl plastic, such as Barbie or Monster Highs? Thanks a lot
Thats what I want to know too... I've been wanting to use acrylic paint and this exact matte varnish (since I have a whole bottle) on my blank obitsu head. I haven't tried it yet and I'm also thinking about using the airbrush to do blushing and shading...
do you still use this method?
Does this brush on sealant work on Pullip doll face ups and also if I decide to use colored pencils? Thanks.
I am loving this 🤩❣️
Can I use this system for American Girl Doll
Thank you. I love those little sponges for so many craft applications.
I absolutely love this method, but it's so hard to come by more information on it. Have you tried other types of liquid sealants? Are there any that need to be avoided? I just bought my first blank bjd and would love to try my hand at customizing him myself.
Thank you for an alternative to MSC.
Hi, I've been really interested in doll customizing for a while now and sealant has always been a problem for me. I only had heard of the aerosols ones and the more I searched about them, the less I felt comfortable using them. Between the toxicity, the fact my garden is full of plants we use and our dog walking freely there when she wants, I wasn't feeling very confident on the impacts it would have on my health as well as the one of my family and dog. And of course when I discovered that most sealants don't work in cold temperatures, temperatures we basically have all year except for around 4 months here, I was about to give up. Then I found your video. And I must say, that was a revelation for me. It might sound strange but, I get very into my hobbies and when I realize I cant achieve it, that takes quite a big toll on me. So thank you. Thank you for showing me that life changer way of sealing that I never saw nor saw referenced anywhere else! You are helping a lot of people!!!
Thanks very much for your videos. I've been thinking about doing a face up but it's difficult (and expensive) to get MSC here in England. I'll get the right liquid varnish and try your method. Thank you.
Hello, I am a makeup mannequin artist. I just starting out and I have been using aerosol sealant but I hate the fumes and the little spray bubbles it leaves on my mannequins. Do you think this will work for me to even though I use makeup instead of paint?
I really wanted to use watercolour pencils on my faceup but I tried it and it smudged. Any ideas for how to use it with watercolour pencils
Does the hair from the dolls get stuck on the face up at the end ?
Magnifying 🔍 glass chaye to es 9718407348 pr call kre
I am gonna use this as I have a pet and I don't want toxic fumes in my house
I'm late and haven't tried it yet but thank you so much for this info.
This was great, thanks! I LOVE the magnifying glass 5th from the left in the box! What would I ask for to find a bead like that handle piece?
so a dub question but how would you remove the faceup? would windsor newton brush cleaner still work?
hi, is this method good for barbies?
This product dries naturally
Im a beginer with doll costuming and I think that this is a better thing to use! Thank you ☆
how many minutes will i wait for the sealant to dry?
Late response, but let it dry for 8-10 minutes minimum, and let it dry longer if it's humid.
Someone tried this on vinyl dolls?
I think dollightful tried this out you should watch it
Which method is more effective? Sponge or the spray? I want to get into doll customizing without damaging my lungs and buying expensive sealant. Will this work with pencils and pastels or just the paint?
this is pretty neat! while i dont think ill ever get into doll repainting as a hobby though i just want to fix my childhood dolls haha 😅
Can this sealant also be used on plastic? Such as a Pullip or Blythe doll? I heard some work with resin, but not with plastic? Thanks!
Im curious if anyone have tried on Vinyl? I have a DD girl that I wanna redo the faceup soon too... Ive been using MSC for awhile but it got really annoying when the season changes. Unfortunately we got an early winter here......... and when I finally got time to do faceup it SNOWED!!!! Cant wait to try out this method on my resins but if it works on vinyl too it'd be AMAZING!!!
