That's fair. No Gi is often called submission wrestling. There is a fair amount of overlap in what goes on in Jiu Jitsu with Ju Jitsu, Judo, Wrestling, etc. :)

I don't really anticipate being in street fight in general, let alone with someone with martial arts training. But that isn't the point here. Not to mention the fact that no one in the video is wearing a Gi. Let's say a street fight does come up. I don't think I'll be sticking with any IBJJF rulesets or just Jiu Jitsu alone. OSS

@@PeterSchulert yeah there were a lot of things he could have done better to be honest. It didn’t feel like my typical blue belt competition. I was having an off day and still managed to make light work. 🤷🏼‍♂️

@@tigermike74 it makes sense for the brown belt to accept a super match with a black belt. If you win you’ve beat a black belt If you lose well “Of course you lost it was a black belt”. So no real downside for that person

@@Josh-fh1rm far as I could tell a cross collar. Like a bow and arrow. She went from having a body lock to hooking the leg and pinning the arm. I couldn’t see where the left hand was but the right hand was coming around for the collar

@@RichardOwen-p3h was that in the Gi or No Gi? I’ve got several class rounds with Damon in one of my playlists. Dan Rolfe is another big brown belt but he is usually a visitor. I hope to get a round with him soon and post it

@@davidjonesgriz It may have been Dan Rolfe, I looked him up and Dan definitely looks like the guy I rolled with. I spoke with him and discovered he's an engineer like myself. Not sure if Dan's an engineer. It's possible the guy I'm thinking of no longer trains there.

It was no gi but I think he was wearing gi pants.

@GenDominion "Jiu Jitsu is Fake, just stand up" is a common misconception that Jiu Jitsu doesn't actually work and you could just stand up. Even when that is the case, that doesn't mean you won't get taken down again. Jiu Jitsu matches start from standup and the first goal in the match is to get a take down. He keeps standing up to get out of a bad position. If he doesn't get up, I'll continue to secure my position and start working for a submission.

Oh, thanks. I just didn’t grasp the concept of the quote I guess lol if I were the slim guy I would look for leg locks and del la hiva sweep, tripod sweep, triangle, etc. I love both Gi and NoGi

@@davidjonesgriz awesome about your wrestling experience. I did a little wrestling in high school, so I feel I do know the basics of grappling, LOL. You are a natural grappler. Consider getting a wrestling coach!

@ we’ve got several experienced wrestlers and even a couple of people who coach wrestling. So I’ve gotten some tips along the way and continue to work with them when I can.
