This song tells my story with my mom and Dementia. She does not know who I am anymore. I am her son. i went through the difficult stages for years. I hope that I can give her the quality of life she deserves. Really great mom. Always there for me. It's my turn now. Love the song. i am sure I will listen again and again. Thanks for sharing.
Hi Albert! I'm glad you felt the message of the song. Few families have been spared the Alzheimers disease. It's so hard to see someone you loved and who loved you struggle with 'those demons in their head'. Thanks for getting in touch.
@@charliemcgettigan Thank you, I really appreciate this.
What a song ,full of compassion for those affected by this terrible disease. A song that makes you listen and feel for them!!!
Great song
Thank you! Glad you like it.
❤❤❤
I hope you are coping with all that entails.
My memory short term isn’t good. I went to my doctor and he said no you don’t have dimentia
I do tiktok. I’d like to lip sync this song. Would it be okay ?
My dad now at 84 has dimentia In one month he really went down hill

Found this after listening to national song contest ‘87, this is a really lovely version!!
Thank you for this song Charlie, it is really lovely and brings me back to my many visits to my fathers's family many years ago. You are a great friend of my cousin there. Thank you again.
I’m so glad you like the song. I came to Drumshanbo for six months fifty years ago and it was the best decision I ever made.
@@charliemcgettigan Thank you for your reply. That's lovely to hear. When I mention Eamonn and Tony RIP, Do you know who I am talking about?
@@alphonsushayes946 Would it be Tony and Eamonn McGowan? Tony is sadly no longer with us but I was talking to Eamonn yesterday and he's in great form.
@@charliemcgettigan Bang on, good to hear about Eamonn, he is a gentleman..Their father was my father's brother.
Beautiful song & video
I have a doctor's appointment for early dimentia. I got lost not to long ago going to my sins house which I've been there before. I was 5 minutes away from his house. I can't remember what's for supper even thought my wife told me earlier that day. I keep telling the same things to friends wife my kids. They all say I've heard this an100 times.
Of course we all experience some memory loss as we age. I hope you are able to slow down the process somehow. You are obviously doing everything you can by putting yourself in the hands of an expert. Good luck with all your treatment. Charlie
I'm 57 and find my memory failing. I keep repeating the same things on a weekly basis. I got lost and confused. I don't know if I'm getting early onset dimentia but something isn't right with my mind
Hello Ken! Thanks for getting in touch. I think as we get older we tend to be a little more forgetful. I'm 72 and it's alarming and embarrassing sometimes. I went to my GP about it and he sent me for a brain scan. Thankfully all is well with my brain. Perhaps you should do something similar. Chin up! Charlie
Thank you for taking the time to reply Charlie. I am Theresa Doherty, 14 Cluain Barron, living in Ealing, west London for the last 35 years. Ita bought me your book which I thoroughly enjoyed and listening to the songs, (Signed by you) especially Cluain Barron Days for obvious reasons! I have loaned the book to my lovely neighbour Charlie Mc Cracken who you may know. He played in a band with Rory Gallagher called Taste. Charlie is originally from Enniskillen and delighted to share the book. It’s such a small world! So lovely to hear you speak so fondly about your lovely wife Goretti and your lovely family. I remember Goretti from my school days, she would have been in Marie or Pats class, Pats I think. Stunning girl. Much Love; Theresa
Great to hear from you. We celebrated Goretti’s brother Sean’s 70th birthday last night here in Dublin. Pádraig Travers turned up. You might remember the Travers Family who lived on the Donegal rd. I have great memories of your Mum Dad and the rest of the family. We led a charmed existence in those days. All the best! Charlie
@@charliemcgettigan I sure do! Pat my sister had a big crush on Sean! Anne my sister is still on great terms with Mary Travers. We all had a memorable childhood, great memories!
