The Problem With Donkey Kong Country Returns HD's Co-Op
The original allowed for both players to bounce off the same enemies, this was crucial in allowing both players to properly go through each level together while remaining independent, this is no longer possible in the HD version as only one player can jump on an enemy. This change now requires one player to die or DK and Diddy have to combine (which wasn't required in the original)
Edit: According to a video by Kong Kompendium the issue started on the 3DS version:

BIG Issues With DKC Returns HD Co-Op (And To A Lesser Extent DKC Tropical Freeze On Switch).

Now it's possible I'm just missing something (so if I am please inform me), and I don't know if this started on DKC Returns 3DS, but there's an issue in DKC Returns HD for co-op where both players can no longer jump on the same enemy. In the original this allowed for both players to make precise jumps that required using the enemy for an extra bounce, in HD this is removed and can cause death i...

This wasn't removed; the problem is that this version was very likely based on and developed from the 3DS version rather than the Wii version. In the 3DS version, perhaps due to hardware limitations, this exact same issue existed. What suggests that the version was based on the 3DS is not only this flaw but also the visuals, as some elements in the scenery, such as water effects and certain structures, are not as well-made or well-positioned as they were in the Wii version, likely due to the 3DS's downgrade. Another factor is the inclusion of new stages exclusive to the 3DS, which makes it much easier to port the 3DS version than to include those stages in the Wii version. In short, since it’s an old game, the development team probably didn’t even notice this flaw when working on this version, as the game was already complete, and they only needed to tweak the visuals. So, this detail most likely went unnoticed.
Yeah, I recently learned this issue was in the 3DS version as well, and so I updated my description to include a link to the video I learned that from.
Wtf that’s an awful change lol
That's actually a problematic changue. They should just changued the visuals.

Hope that Nintendo will here about those bugs ! Great work !
Hell yah my man
About it being possibly inspired by the last of us ... Dead Rising 4 was originally gonna be last of us inspired Scrapped because it was too different So i think the swearing being added to emulate last of us isn't a stretch
Wasn't aware of that, thanks for the info.
The heavy amount of swearing is 1000% more believable than the original dialog.
I disagree. I fail to see how: Carlos: "Calm down, lady. I’m no zombie. My name is Carlos, corporal of Umbrella’s Biohazard Counter Measure Force. What’s your name?" Jill: "Jill. Did you just say you belong to Umbrella’s army?" Carlos: "Yeah. We came all the way out here to save your civilians, but the mission went bad the minute we landed." Jill: "Wait. I have to ask you something." Carlos: "I know. You wanna ask me out. All the foxy ladies have my accent. It drives them crazy." Jill: "What? Keep dreaming. Tell me, why did Umbrella send your team in?" Carlos: "We’re here to rescue the civilians." Jill: "Don’t lie to me! Umbrella is the reason why this whole mess began!" Carlos: "Look, we’re just mercenaries. Hired hands. You really think the master would tell his dog why he has to retrieve the stick he just threw?" is "1000%" less believable than: Carlos: "Listen, I promise you're in good hands. I'm with the Umbrella Biohazard Countermeasure Service. U.B.C.S. for short." Jill: "Are you kidding me? Are you fucking kidding me? You guys are the ones who caused all of this!" Carlos: "Whoa whoa whoa whoa. What are you talking about? You don't have to trust me, but I'm going to the shelter. You comin'?"
@xxglitchygamesxx1038 because these are people in professions of arms undergoing apocalyptic levels of stress. Spend some time around police and soldiers and let me know how restrained they are about their use of swear words. It's how these people talk. This is a weird gripe, and I'm not sure why you're clutching your pearls over this.
Consider this rhetorical. I'm not interested in responding further to someone whose entire argument comes down to "I disagree" without any supporting facts or thoughts beyond that. This video was a huge waste of my time. This is all of the engagement your page will get from me.
My "entire argument" is in the video, which I'm not sure you watched the entirety of because you'd know "I disagree" is not the whole of my argument. You did not provide an explanation of how the original game dialogue (which I showed in the last comment) was somehow "1000%" less believable than the remake dialogue.
Hello 👋, new viewer of ypur channel due to me finally being able to get into the resident evil series when playing the games like the reaident evil 1 remake and the resident evil 2 remake alongside watching some of the anime and live action movies. Ive become a great fan of this series and when you pointed this out with the amount of swearing from the resident evil 1 remake vs the resident evil 2 remake, its quite jarring to hear how little swearing an old game has compared to the new remake which im not against it but i agree that swearing for characters like jill, claire and leon of all people seems ratger off cause i never got them as the swearing type of character's. It also got annoting sometimes when i play the game, leon snd claire swear so much.
Hey! Thanks so much for the comment. Resident Evil became my third favorite gaming series behind Zelda and Metroid when I played the whole series for the first time in 2020 (previously I'd only played RE 5). I hear you about how jarring the difference is lol. About the characters swearing, they probably didn't seem like the type to swear like that because they originally weren't lol. And yeah, I found it annoying how much Claire and Leon swore as well. As I mentioned in the video, you can literally be winning, defeating enemies with ease, and they're cussing up a storm. I would have shown an actual comparison with RE 1 and its remake and their swears, but the video was already 30 minutes long (I actually wanted it no longer than 15 minutes) and didn't want to make it too long. One thing I remembered was interesting, and wanted to touch on but again I didn't want the video being too long, was Mathijs de Jonge, the director of some of the Killzone (and now Horizon) games, made mention about swearing in video games and how he felt they had too much in Killzone 2 and were conscious of that in Killzone 3: "In Killzone 2 we ended up with too much of it, the thing about swearing is that it's highly effective when it's done right, and in Killzone 3 I think there's some swearing but if feels a lot more impactful. It's at the right times. In total, I think there's seven 'f*** yous' and one 'mother***er'. I think that's fine." I just think that was interesting he was saying that back in 2011.
It chose the coward way out
Up until Revelations there were no Japanese voice recordings for the game. All of the original scripts were in English written by native Japanese speakers. Japanese doesn't actually have swearing the same way English does. Chances are after Resident Evil 4 had Leon swearing, particularly in the cutscene where you grab the shotgun in the village, the response to that being a sort of big deal left an impression on the devs and they kinda got carried away once they learned how cursing works overseas. Plus the staff changed a lot since then too. Maybe Mikami no longer being involved in the series played a part too.
They are cursing too much. Let's wash out all the characters' mouths out with liquid soap 😂 but seriously I have to be honest if I was in that situation I'll be cursing up a storm too especially being constantly stalked and chased by a 8 ft tall tyrant in a police station or the streets. And I'm surprised you didn't mention Resident Evil 4 remake, Leon swears a lot in that, too
He did talk about this. Ultimately everyone won't act the same in a situation. There are some who just won't curse despite the situation they are in. In general for these characters in the previous games, they didn't have a need to swear at that time-though it could have been easily written that they could. To add to this, regarding who they are, he personally feels it doesn't fit their character and he discusses why.
@JonnyM2C show me the video where he's talking about Resident Evil 4 remake because I don't see it nowhere on his channel. And if he feels that they curse too much hey that's his opinion it don't bother me that much because I seen people curse more than these characters in this game
Lol they do need their mouths washed 😆 There isn't a part about RE 4 remake because I didn't play it lol. I lost interest in the remakes of RE because of my issues laid out here (and other issues I didn't discuss) What Jonny was getting at was the part where I say it's valid for people to say they would be swearing in those situations, but that there are people who wouldn't just as well as there are those who do. My issues wasn't that they "swore too much" per se, more so that these are remakes changing the source material so dramatically. I too have seen real people who swear more lol.
@xxglitchygamesxx1038 i understand and thank you for confirming about Resident Evil 4 remake because Leon is basically the only one in that game that has a potty mouth 😂 not as bad as Jill and Carlos though. I don't know I think maybe Capcom is trying to get with the modern times because back then swearing wasn't really popular in games. I know in Final Fantasy 7 original, it had swearing in the subtitles but even those were just symbols. That's the only game that I noticed it in. Cid was terrible, lmao. When I was in high school, I was actually made fun of not swearing like the others 😂😂 and yeah I have family members that will say the f word every 2 minutes. I'm like, what the hell? I thought I was bad, lmao
Yeah, I'm not sure exactly when swearing heavily became mainstream in games, but I know Conker's Bad Fur Day was in 2001 (though the F word was bleeped). Sorry you were made fun of, people shouldn't be attacked over their choice of vocabulary. And yeah, I don't know why Capcom is doing this lol, if I recall correctly though, some of the new RE games have Western writers so that might have something to do with it.
Risa Tabata and Kensuke Tanabe (Metroid Prime series producers) would reaffirm this in a 2008 Iwata Asks about Metroid Prime 3: Tabata: "Because (Prime) 1 and 2 were made for the Gamecube, they used traditional controllers, but with Prime 3, because it was now made for the Wii, it was above all the controls that changed the most. I think you could even go so far as to say the Wii Remote and Nunchuk were developed with this game in mind to begin with." Tanabe: "Among the prototypes for the Wii Remote, there were even traditional controllers that were held with two hands [i.e. like PS2 and Gamecube controllers], with pointer functionality built into them. When (Keisuke) Terasaki-san, who is working with us at Production Group No. 3, saw this prototype, he exclaimed, “You could make a Metroid Prime game for this controller, but wouldn’t it be easier to use if you just split it into two parts?” This became the impetus for the creation of the Nunchuk."

The fact that he didn't slide into the water pains me
It's funny you should post this as I had a similar issue when I came back to this area to finish grabbing items before finishing the game. It wasn't those guys, it was the one's west of you, but same thing. I killed the two with a crafted item and the other one went into a t pose. Only mine wouldn't let me melee him and he still talked. However, I could shoot an arrow through his head and kill him. Yours is just stranger cause you could hit him and he went back into t pose. Wonder why...
i would guess they're supposed to be looking for the girl from the DLC and since she's not there they bug out??? that is the best i could come up with
This was a hit under the belt, "check my privilages" XD
Funny thing is, the Builder outfit is based on Builder Mario from Super Mario Maker. And that game's mascot is a pigeon.
