Started the page for free cloud storage for my drone videos and was surprised when videos started gathering views. I've only had my drone since late June of 2022, so hopefully the videos keep getting progressively better.
Based out of Mid-Michigan. I plan continue to post updates at the Sanford and Wixom Dams as well as other areas that I travel to.
I've got great rates if anyone needs photos or videos done of their property or any other needs, don't hesitate to contact me!

Sanford Dam — September 16, 2024
My posts seem to be getting more and more spread out. But with the summer coming to an end, I should have more time on my hands soon. Also, less videos just due to the fact that this stage of the process is slower going, with less obvious changes on a week-by-week basis.

มุมมอง 2.3K2 หลายเดือนก่อน
Drone video showing the progress being made with the M30 bridge project in Edenville, MI. For those not from the area, this bridge was destroyed during the 2020 dam failures in Midland and Gladwin Counties. In 2020 a temporary bridge was placed over the area where the Tittabawassee and Tobacco Rivers met. This bridge was taken down in early 2024, allowing for this permanent bridge to be constru...

Aerial drone footage shot on July 1st, 2024 showing the rebuild of the Sanford Dam in Midland County, Michigan. The dam was breached during record flooding in 2020 and has been under construction for a couple years since. This video shows contractors pouring concrete and settings forms for the new spillways. The old spillways were demolished a couple months back..
Sanford Dam - June 20, 2024: Spillways are starting to take form.
มุมมอง 4K2 หลายเดือนก่อน
4K drone video shot at the Sanford Dam construction site on June 20th, 2024. I ordinarily prefer to get video while crews are working on the dam. Unfortunately, with my schedule that just wasn’t possible this time around. However, since there were no workers on site, I was able to use that to my advantage and get some up-close videos of the dam. I ordinarily get the “close” videos by using the ...
Drone views of Harbor Springs, Michigan (2024)

4k aerial footage of Harbor Springs, Harbor Point, and the Little Traverse Lighthouse shot on DJI Air 3. The lighthouse was built in 1884 and was manned up until 1963. The lighthouse sits at the end of Harbor Point, which is a private, gated community. Without an invite, a drone, or a boat, the lighthouse proves to be a very difficult site to visit. This was another rushed video, only had 15 mi...

Got to do a little bit of videoing while visiting home. I was fortunate enough to have my family with me when flying the drone, but this is also made me rush things, because I didn’t want to have my head buried in the remote and miss out on family time. 4k drone video shot on DJI AIR 3 showing the Mighty Mac followed by the best beach in all of Michigan, Sturgeon Bay. Aerial video shot on May 6, 2024 showing continuing work at the Sanford Dam. Crews appear to be finishing concrete work on the dam’s old tailrace, pounding more sheet pile into the bed rock around the construction site, and starting work on the dam’s spillway. Drone video shot on April 10, 2024 showing construction on the Sanford Dam. Family luvs this place! We go when we can. Ready to buy another boat!
Great Video, and I really enjoyed the background Music! Thank You
It's really nice to see all this progress, but sad to see that it will come to a halt in January. I hope the Four Lakes Task Force can get all the legal issues sorted out so that the construction of the dam can continue into next year.
I recognize the music but can't place the title of the first song.
Somewhere only we know - Rhianne did a cover of it, originally done by Keane
What a great video. Thanks for taking the time to make and post.
We were about due for another view from the sky. Just over 3 mos left for the year reconstructing the dam. Haven't read anything lately if the the total "Shutdown" is still scheduled by year's end for Sanford due to funding! Are there any "concept photos" out there for the final look of the dam? Thanks for taking the time again.
@@thomasbell9277 I’d also love to see a concept photo. But its been fun seeing it develop with no idea what the end result will be too
Nice update!
Thanks - I didn’t realize I uploaded the video to the public - hopefully it was done processing by the time you watched it! Usually takes an hour or two to process in HD / UHD.
Looks good to me and my father. He’s on Sanford lake. I’m on the east coast. We discuss updates each week.
@@jimr1844 Glad to hear! - Hopefully I’ll be more active in the coming months and give you guys some more aerial updates
Well, lit looks good, well constructed, but who is paying for this, and is it needed. I know many damns have been removed to restore the natural habitats.
Thank you! I really enjoying your fly arounds of this project.
Another Great Video. The "fly through's" were awesome Thanks
Love the fly through down and up close gives you the view how deep all that is.
Thanks for flying and posting!
Thanks for the amazing updates like always
Nothing like getting upclose to this Dam Rebuild and seeing the progress so far. Luved that vertical view, towards the end, looking down at the dam. Amazing Drone work!
What a great video
Thanks for the regular updates on this project!
thank you for posting! #PoseidonBarge
I always look forward to your sanford updates!
Great video. They are even more important now for updates. Since the forms for the spillway walls have gone up, live cam viewers can't see anything going on at the low level outlet construction. (The cam didn't have a great view of it in the first place, but it's worse now) Stuff I noticed: 1 Plywood is gone from the powerhouse window openings. I'm wondering why now? Window installation shouldn't be a priority until major construction is complete to prevent accidental breakage by work crew. 2. Looks like the lake bottom will need another brush hogging this year. 3. There are forms for concrete walls on top of the low level outlet that would block flow. I really can't visualize how this outlet will function. Haven't found info on it on the FLTF site. They still only have the original plans there saying powerhouse would be used for this function. 4 Not from this video, but on the live cam it took almost the entire workday to fill the first spillway wall form to the top with concrete. That's a lot of concrete if it took that long. And they're gonna need enough for 5 more walls.😲
Epic!
good job .really like your drone videos
As always a Great Video. Thank you for taking the time out to make them
You’re welcome - you folks are the only reason I’m still doing them. I need some new subject matter!
Saw on the stationary LIVE cam this morn they started cement pour on gate wall. Luv the 360° ariel drone feature you bring us each Video. Sometimes hard to see the progress, but glad you took the time! Great Job again👏👏
Thank's for taking the time to post. What great view.
Nice! Small crew. Not sure by design! Finishing Dates were Updated for ALL Dam work. Earliest Completion is Secord Dam (late 2025). Says 55% completed but looks further than that. Delays are still possible with Court Dates! Property Owners still in limbo with assessments, probably holding their breaths ($$$)! Sis said sad situation all around, having to Pay for something that wasn't their fault. Pretty much stuck for what's to come! Thanx, again, taking the time here. Luv "same day" video uploading! Very Professional I'd say, again!
another fine job . thanks for update
Be nice to see this water way working late this year. How high are they going to run the lake side?
The lake will be at the legal level, aka the same level as before the flood. But this waterway, won't be working until 2025 or 2026. Work on Sanford dam will cease in December if the legal issues are not resolved. FLTF says that this will be when work is completed on the east end of the dam (spillways) That means that the earthen embankment portion of the dam will not be completed this year and the lake cannot be filled until that happens. I don't know if completed work includes removal of the coffer dams around the spillways. So the river may or may not be flowing through there at the end of the year. My guess is that it won't, but that's just my opinion.
good job thanks for update.
Thanks
Nice job. Looking forward to the next Sanford update as well
Editing a video from today right now! … Unfortunately, my internet has very very poor upload speeds, so likely wont be posted until tomorrow morning
What is the main use or reason for this dam? Just curious I'm not one of those tear down the dams looney. Dams have a purpose or multiple jobs to perform. Also where is this located? I'm Eastern Washington state a couple miles where the Snake River joins the Columbia River here we have four dams with locks and hydropower plants. Known as the four lower Snake River Dams also they equipped with fish bypass systems groups from the far left have set their sites on them for removal to save the local Orca pods in Puget sound. It's a stupid argument they lacking facts but like other looney lefty causes even though it's very small percent of a percent but they squeak a lot and loudly while the rest have to work for living, And Democrats politics don't play on level field, they want to remove four facilities that are as green energy as it gets.
This particular dam is in Gladwin County, Michigan. Which is kind of smack dab in the middle of our lower peninsula. The dam was originally constructed for hydroelectric, but in 2020 we had a series of dam failures. This dam was affected, but not as severely as a couple of the others. The newly constructed and or upgraded dams in the chain of lakes are being built to restore the lakes that were previously there. Unfortunately, the hydroelectric capabilities aren’t being restored.
What is taking so long? it only took 5 years to build hover Dam its been 4 years
Nice ariel as usual. Stationary LIVE CAM, even though nice to have, can't compete with your Drone footage. Now that these gate walls going up, blocks alot of the views of work being done. Thanks for your time for us to view the project from the air. Happy 4th of July to You and Fam 🎆🇺🇲
Like that version better, close flying and the usual circle up higher. It's nice to get a detailed close up.
The old power house would make a great bar. After watching a ball game you could to the Dam Bar, hell you could go to the Dam Bar when ever you wanted.
Superb drone flying. That first 4 minute shot is epic! Great work. Really helps to see angles that the live cam doesn't cover. Any chance you could shoot the staging area away to the South West please? Used to be a cat park in the old days.
You talking over by the county park? That shouldn’t be an issue
Thanks I live in California and been following this since the flooding . Great drone shots.
Looks like today would’ve been the day to go down there! Pumping concrete, cranes moving, lot of fun stuff to video. I’ll get down there again some time next week, hopefully.
Thanks. You video shows areas Joedan's camera can't
It's nice when there's not a Work Crew so you have free range to video w/o disturbing any work being done. One of your Best Videos! They don't put full days of work anymore, probably cause of the "Money Issue". Secord Dam looks to be almost Complete now, with water flowing through the New Spillway! Just a few workers round the dam area tweeking stuff. Most if the landscaping seems to be done. Anyways, nice job on the Video! You're gettn' very skilled with the Drone now. Enjoy Summer
Really hoping to get back to Secord again one of these days. Fisher’s Contracting had me go up the one time, hoping they’ll ask to go again.
Don't know why they wouldn't ask ya. You're no "Amateur" now! I'm sure someone in their office is taking notice of your ariel videos of progress being made on the site. Glad someone at least reached out to you!
I’ll be happy if my drone even works by the time things are done on these dams! U.S. House just passed a bill aiming to ban CCP (Chinese Community Party) drones in the United States, which could retroactively eliminate the thousands of dollars in drones that I’ve invested in. Politicians claim that they are afraid of CCP using consumer drones for spying. They are also trying to get citizens to buy American made drones. Unfortunately, there isn’t a US drone manufacturer that is anywhere near putting out the quality of drones that DJI makes.
Had no idea that this would jeopardize your operation here! Sad World we live in Today! Freedoms are slowly being taken away doing everyday stuff and HOBBIES that may have some Financial Value to People. Hope this doesn't change your PASSION doing something You Love in your spare time or maybe Full time some day! Keep the DREAM ALIVE, my Friend!
@@staleybrad I agree with you regarding drones from China. If they had a legitimate argument but come on.... Better chance my wash machine which was built in China has more capability to spy!! Great video and you are certainly way ahead of me. I watch Pilot Institute for updates regarding drone legislation......found them very good.
Some pretty bold flying right there - Excellent!
Ha! Thanks - it can get pretty nerve wracking. Especially when you see cables / wires or other small objects last second… My newest drone that I’ve using has some top of the line obstacle avoidance, but… I’d prefer not to test it. I see videos of people “testing” the sensors in wooded areas with small branches and what not. Those folks clearly have more money to gamble than I do!
Who’s paying for that?
Who’s paying for this?
Unless plans have changed, the emergency spillway will be approximately where the river is currently re-routed. This new bay going in at the opposite end of the spillways from the old powerhouse is either going to be a seventh spillway with a crest gate or perhaps a low level water outlet for passing flows in the winter. I thought they would be using the passageways in the powerhouse to do that, but seeing as they've completely filled in the tailrace with concrete they've either abandoned plans for a low level outlet or are going to incorporate one into a spillway. Really wish FLTF would post the final design on their web site to clear this up. The design posted before all the construction started has 8 spillway gates and a powerhouse that was half as long as the current building. But the building appears to be retaining it's current footprint so designs have changed at least somewhat since then.
It would be nice to see the plans !
Great video any chance you could go up to the new M30bridge being built and film any of that?
I was gonna run up there today, but I see Jordan Mowbray just posted a video of that project.
Thanks again for taking the time to post this video. Looks like a lot of work and rework going on.
Things have really ramped up here at Sanford Dam. Getting a 360° areial view puts the project in perspective. Looks like Legal Matters are gonna slow things down, it sounds like. Work here at Sanford will continue till end of year and then a "Full Stop", unless matters get resolved in Court. Secord Dam almost finished, but they too, shutting down shortly! Sounds like a mess with Property Owners vs Construction Costs! Sis and Hubby were up at their place at Secord Lake area (Tib River). Said locals not sure what's to come! Sad. Pontoon remains in the garage (Brand New-bought wk before catastrophe of dam systems. But, your areials are enjoyable to view from above. Thanks for your Time sharing!
Wonderful video. It really puts the monumental task of rebuilding that dam into perspective.
SO…..why is this dam and area worth so much time and money…. They have spent millions, I am wondering why. What is the greater value?
Thanks for the timely updates. You are recording history!! Another possible historical interest would be the new M30 bridge.
