On this episode of The It's Only Rock And Roll Podcast, we speak with drummer Pete Best, one of only three living men who can rightfully claim the designation “former-Beatle”. We discuss his two year role in the band's development, which took them from teenaged amateur rockers, to road-hardened seasoned musicians - culminating with the band signing with EMI Records, and his infamous firing from the group literally on the eve of their worldwide success. Pete also recounts The Casbah, the teenage live music club his mother started out of the basement of their family home which gave The Beatles their start.

I'm green...& I'm With Bo.. ‼️..🇦🇺🍻.. it's always the content of the character.. things have changed since the 50 tees..we hope!
To sum up Jim Morrison -- rock legend, Dionysus, sex symbol, poet, shaman, philosopher, wizard, genius, kind, gentle, insightful, knowledgeable, humble and interested in the etheric. But... he was also, a jerk, narcissist, sadist, imbecile, inconsiderate, sociopath, childish, self-destructive, lover of the dark and macabre. Jim Morrison was part Christ and part Satan. It depended on the phase of the Moon, I guess. Of course, we are all that way but Morrison was more so, in both extremes.
My first concert in Lake Charles ,La.1974
My dear friend Howie Casey , such a legend and lovely lovely guy , and I had a honnor to play and tour with him, in Portugal , we called " Wings over Algarve", love the man !!!!
Because they ended up being better than led Zeppelin so led Zeppelin's manager turned the power off on them
In another interview that I heard, M.Farner stated that Led Zeppelins manager, Peter Grant, had the power shut off and demanded that GFR exit the stage. M.F. also said that GFR was "upstaging" Led Zeppelin and GFR watched Led Zeppelins set in the crowd with the fans in a 1/2 empty arena.
I've seen everyone including Grand Funk and Led Zeppelin back in 1971 1972 and believe me Grand Funk was much better😮 they got us hippies back then going nuts😅 Led Zeppelin's Act was okay but highly overrated and the drum solo was absolutely boring😮 as a matter of fact nobody was better than Grand Funk and ELP to see live back in the early 1970s😊
Interesting
Jim has one of the best rock n roll voices ever and some of their live shows are absolutely amazing. With alcohol its hit n miss, sometimes its a mess and others its magic. And Jim is like a greek god and got all the girls. Linda was a fine wonen so im sure Jim tried 😅
..no Farner..no Funk…
I can guarantee you that GFR would have been far better off if they'd had a man like Peter Grant working for them. Instead they got ripped off in the long run. Grant wasn't always a nice fella but he was loyal to his band .
Jim had a great voice
Bless her little heat!! Poor woman!! She was robbed of her greatest gift by Parkinson's disease!!! Harris and I wanna take Linda on a cross country road trip in Christine. If we could do that, Christine's odometer that runs backwards would rejuvenate poor poor pitiful Linda. While Christine herself gets younger and younger as her odometer runs backwards, so does anything or anyone in her cabin. So does anything in her trunk, or even anything in a trailer hitched to Christine.
I think they went over their allotted time to play and that's why the plug was pulled. Yeah, they didn't get to "finish" and the home town folks were surely upset, but I don't think Zeppelin was "afraid" of being outclassed by them. Both were great bands.
Whatever. Led Zeppelin Rocks!! And still does today.
The truth ❤
I saw video footage of that. The stands were moving up and down and looked as if they would fall on the people below. GFR had the place ROCKING.
Get Your ‘Swords’ out Gentlemen … the ‘Battle of Evermore,’ to LIVE the Best-Fit ‘D’imension andor the ‘Railroad home’ has again begun.
If the power was out, how did the microphone function?
Inside-out: What a great song to not get to hear. Maybe write a song, Upside-down! 🙃
I'd would've been SO PISSED OFF!
LMAO, Zeppelin shouldn,t have said nothing

I think like all of us, we don’t see our worth… Lou has no idea that his voice is his own and no one can take that or try to sound even close.. He sings with so much sensuality and passion, making love to me without touching me😔I really really want to meet him face to face and hopefully be there to watch him live I’m 55 and have only been to 2 concerts , Pink Floyd which my boyfriend played on his guitar to me, I mean Todd played exactly ….. like the band 10 years into our marriage he surprised me on our Wedding Anniversary June 30, with tickets to Tim McGraw at Sacramento Amphitheater Outdoors Heineken Beer My honey said “Kerry Here he comes down the aisle singing … Look!! Spotlight!!!!, I jumped a row of chairs and squeezed in as Tim was walking down and I touched his mesh shirt and chest.., it was electric
Now Lou I just have to meet you❤❤❤

Love all these long ago bands with revisionist history saying they were kicked off a tour or stage because they ‘upstaged’ the headliner. Does it happen? Sure it does, but not as many times as these bands claim it did.
If Zep did that I would bet money it was their manager's idea and doing.
Your right , Grant was no joke....
Peter Grant was a monster 👺
@@flightnavigator8999 Correct..... When it came to the boys and ANYTHING having to do with the boys , especially $$ issues , he truly did have their best interests at heart
@@jaydemo5792 He was going to promote Elvis for a 77 concert tour but he died before it started.
Totally
Looooove The Hollies!❤
Lou, if this gets to you, there's a breakthrough in the effects of water fasting reseting the human body. Please consider it as an option. It worked miracles for myself.
AMERICAN BAND BRO👍🏾😎☯️🇺🇸👉🍺🎵🎸💚👽🎵💚🎸👽🦎
In the early 70s they were my favorite band, I had every GF record on the planet! even the flamed vinyl "Phoenix" record(until they were all stolen) still love their stuff! Chickenshit move by Zeppelin!
Blame Zeppelin manager Peter Grant. Read somewhere where he also demanded that the MC5 cut their set when they opened for them. Was at Detroit's Olympia Stadium I believe.
Hunky Hottie Mark Farner, is a Cherokee Nation ~ Native American. I LOVE Grand Funk!!! What a threesome 🎉🎉🎉
He tried to put down Meatloaf…. Didn’t go well for him. Check Meats first LP numbers. Sorry Clive, guys you wrong more than a few times.
Hi Mark! I’ve loved GFR since I was 15 in 1971 !

Tremendo grupo 😊😊😊
Back in the early 1980s my brother and his friends went to see Motley Crue headline a show here in their homeotwn (Los Angeles). The opening act was the new Japanese HM band Loudness, and everyone noticed how well they played and made Motley Crue look bad. Crue got rid of them as their opening act shortly thereafter.
Loudness is still out there making new albums and kicking ass. All of their members actually play their instruments!
