Hang Man’s “damn” is the things that makes this whole scene, imo. A new guy with better training and tech was shown by an “instructor” that as much as the newer generation thinks they are better, he has to give respect to the real OG. I think it gives Maverick credibility in this new age of fighter jets and that it goes back to his original comment about testing limits and that’s what defines you.

That airframe was putting in work...

Its kinda funny on rewatch how much Tom Cruise moves but when it shows the back of the pilot actually doing the flying he is just moving his head.

Meanwhile, in the modern real military, "good" leadership is determined by how much paper you push and leaders who try and still lead the mission are openly criticized and not promoted because they need to be "officers (aka bureaucrats) first."

I like how he is using actual breathing techniques for high-speed maneuvering. Otherwise, you would pass out too quickly.

The pilot was in 2 separate planes

This was such a good movie. The first in a long time.

Cyclone and Warlock were correct that Maverick was legendary that the pilots only knew about his skills in a dogfight and when Maverick went about setting up a seemingly impossible tasks for the young pilots so he knew the only way that he could prove that it would work was to show them all that not only was he god in the cockpit but he knew what he was talking about when it came to missions. Those young pilots might be the best of the best but Maverick is god when it comes to the impossible.

Isn't 9G the max human body can handle? Meaning, reaching 10G should mean he lost consciousness and probably suffer brain damage due to lack of oxygen? And no matter of training or willpower can help here, he would need to be literal superhuman to do it? Also, Hornet is rated to 7,5G max. Meaning, at higher value could, I don't know, BROKE THE WINGS. So he is not only superhuman, but also flying a superplane.

Maverick a goat knows what's he capable and told they watch this
