@@GrassiOutdoorAdventures I've heard that too. Just wondering why it was called a bluegill when that's not even a nickname I've heard for it.

@@AA-HandyRake Kind of a sarcastic joke. In a fb page I posted it on whenever someone ask where the fish are biting everyone replies lake Mayer a freshwater pond. So it was kind of an inside joke for that page.

Fish don't know what feeling "full" means. If they have an opportunity for an easy meal, they will take it. I accidentally killed a pet fish when I was a kid because I dumped too many pellets into the aquarium, and it ate itself to death.

Closest so far but it’s higher.

My first thought was that it was a yellow bellied slider. But upon further examination I determined it was a common snapping turtle it was just only a day or so old and features can be deceiving at that age.

Those are sheepshead.

Yep. Hoping to beat it for sure. No guarantees. I really want to break the 10 lb mark. My PB is 9.5 lbs that was 20 years ago.

Check some of my videos. I let him walk last year as a six point. He’s still alive via trail cam as of a few days ago. So hope to see him again next season!

There can be a lot of variables in March. There will be some fish spawning and some pre spawn. The weather leading up will dictate where to focus. But spawning areas will definitely be the key to focus on. The lower lake is easier to pattern and navigate. The upper lake has been producing better the past couple years. Chatterbaits spinner baits swim jigs swim baits are all great search baits. Tx speed craw and light weight senkos around trees.

Depending on the weather almost everywhere is good in late march. The fish can get finicky with cold fronts out there. Potatoes creek holds fish year round though because of the deeper water nearby.
