so how does the 3rd gear work? id be concerned id go from 2-1 trying tk shift up

I had a 1966 c10 Cheve pick up..got in and drove.

In town you only need 2nd gear

I learned to drive a manual transmission vehicle in my uncle’s 69 F150 3 on the tree. I loved that truck more than any other vehicle I ever seen.

I prefer four in the floor

In the caribbean, Mitsubishi sold a van that shifted like well into the 90's. It was a 4 speed. They move the gear shift to the floor when they moved to 5 speed transmissions.

Back in the day I had a Renault wuth five on the tree.

The reason why I never learned how to drive this is because my dad isn't my uncle brother, and my mum isn't my grandma sister.

I drove a barracuda "leaning tower of power" with three on the tree once. Very weird but it works 💁‍♂️

No backing up, huh. I would get tired of pushing it out a parking space. I'll stick to my floor shifter it has a reverse.

Only problem is the steering wheel and shifter are on the wrong side of the car lol.🇦🇺 Australian 3 on the tree was on the left side of the steering column

If you drive a Mercedes you can have up to four pedals if you drive a manual. In older Mercedes models the parking brake was a pedal that you pressed down with a lever to release it.

What about Reverse?

Back then, they never had overdrive. 3rd gear was a 1:1 ratio (on a column shift)

So where I'm from we never had cars with column shifters. I've even seen one other that imported US cars. So my question is, are there cars/transmissions that have this method of shifting with more than three gears? I mean 4 wouldn't be much of a problem but once you get to 5 or 6 wouldn't the dashboard get in your way?

I think a tdi swapped corrado would be cool

Ive seen that alot of Small cars made by big auto manufacturers are built lile legos. Extremely simple, and easy to maintain. Most things from the late 80s and mid 90s is what Ive worked on.
