Watch abom79 channel for correct method for spray welding
i will do that thank you
Thank you for doing a follow through video. This helped me greatly rebuilding my transfer case. All the best.
Can i ask a really dumb question or two? When you say to Emory something can you elaborate? Is that material a preferred way to remove rust better that steel wool? Second question when you say lube with atf, that any old automatic trans fluid? When you say lube with oil, any oil work?
Emry comes in many diff grits I usually use 120 and on the at I use DeX merc
Please stop making videos. You’re teaching people how not to work on a vehicle and is what is wrong with “techs” these days.
your just trying to make a buck you don't give a crap. ha ha
You don’t know shit dude especially an e4od.
Do you have a gf in runescape
Where or what is a UCM? i have a 1905 and 1906 error code. on my SV300. it wont let me Rev up or down. suck on rabbit mode it think. the REV Vertical lever on my right has no fuction. any help would be cool. by the way how do u get it to display codes? and cycle threw codes?
on mine the codes come up and scroll threw on there own just like it says volts then goes to oil temp then to coolant temp and the ucm from what i can tell is the main computer been wrong b4 thou and i think its the one up front kinda under/behind your feet but its hard to get info, case is very tight liped and just want you to bring in the machine for them to work on which i cant afford
@@shamrockperformance7180 i took it to some guy who did a diagnosis. cost me $125. and he had a OBD2 type connector attached to a laptop via bluetooth. then to a laptop running some type of paywall software and he saw that the DEF numbers where wrong or off somehow so he grabbed a turkey bayster/ telescope thing. with a pipet pulled a few drops of fluid out the DEF tank . and checked the DEF fluid. and he said that someone had ran the machine with the DEF on empty for too long and fried the DEF sensor. and that was throwing everything out of wack. he said that the new DEF sensor cost around $1400. and a DEF delete cost around $2000. thanks for the reply
@@pottymouthmexican darn man that sucks, yea my skider is an early one and lucky me has only a egr and thats it for emissions and if it was me i would do the delete
mine are 5501 and 5511 would 5501 be the same connecter or a different one you think ?
Some people are too smart to teach.
Not much. of a help to me. Maybe you're talking to people who already know about transmissiins
As a person with little experience, I found your video waaay over my head, and chaotic and confusing.
"Don't listen to this, Communist sheet!" HAHAHAHAHAHAAHHhahahahhahhaaaa.... thumbs up 🥐 wrench......nice!
ha thanks always nice to find like minded humor
Slide your gear part-way up and put a rubber band around your needle brgs to keep 'em in line :) ..then take the gear all the way off
yea thats deff a better way to do it to not lose any needles but i have lots of spares on hand and sometimes think i like to do it the hard way lol
Who makes the best rebuild kit for E40D in your opinion. I need to OH mine. Thanks!
i like the raybestous kits with gpz frictions the best
Dude. You’re all wet.
Great vid, thanks!
i thought the e40d is supposed to be just a C6 with overdrive added, i don't recall C6's ever having the kind of failure rates that e40d's have...
Because no one takes care of anything anymore and everyone is a TH-cam mechanic. It’s a c6 from the intermediate clutch back.
@@mdtransmissionspecialties I hope that youtube mechanic comment wasn't directed at me because i am anything but a bonafide mechanic, especially when it comes to fords which i try to avoid as much as possible on account i hate them but unfortunately i've been stuck with one which i try my hardest to take care of so i don't have to do any major work on it. with that said can you answer something for me, with the e40d being based on the c6 why under load does my e40d appear to have 4 distinct shift plus od, when not under load sometimes what seems like 3rd and 4th will slush together, did ford have a 5 speed auto in an f250 in 1992?
@@abruptlyblunt you where correct on the c6 part. The reason it feels like you have 5 gears sometimes is you’re feeling the torque converter locking.
@@mdtransmissionspecialties i was afraid you were going to say something like that, i bought a kit with springs and shit that is supposed to firm the shifts back up but swapping out springs and things in the valve body is way past my experience level, except for filters and pan gaskets i've avoided the inside of A/T's my whole life, i guess i should man up and just do it, what's the worst that can happen......lmao thanks
@@abruptlyblunt I have a transmission shop. You can send me your accumulator and I’ll install your shift kit
Do you have an e4od to a 7.3 idi rebuild video?
Any suggestions where i can get sealing/bearing kits from ?!
Brilliant!!!! Thanks a lot & greetings from Germany
what ever it takes transmission will set you up or some refer to it as wit trans
Great video -- don't care that you did it by phone. It's good information for us noobs.
Awesome video -- I'm tearing down my 4r100 (first time trans build) and I was curious about what this type of wear looks like... now I know what to check!!
I’m doing a 97 E4OD and I also want to machine this support, problem is I need to find someone to machine it for me. Btw make sure you add an extra clutch in direct using the forward drum bevel plate as a top hat! 👍
@@aaronmcnab9911 I ended up doing my own but I have a lathe so… there’s a company in Vancouver WA that sells them premachined I don’t remember the name .
My 1990 f350 with e40d went to tow trailer kept jumping up on highway to higher rpm then back to normal ran out of overdrive. Can't figure out why shifts ok without 1500 lbs trailer any ideas thanks.
Sounds like with the weight it might be slipping
I've heard bad grounds can cause current to travel through there constantly generating heat... Not good
Thanks Luke. I was wondering why I was getting hard shifting in all gears recently. In Phoenix, we have been having heat lighting in the summer and having transmission problems. I'm thinking that it could be the grounding. Add ground straps to the transmission? What would you recommend?
Did you say the fluid is eriding the center support?? Ummm no 🤦♂️
Yes i did say that because thats what happens to every e4od and 4r100 very common problem
@@shamrockperformance7180 Ive been building ford transmissions long time ive never seen trans fluid erode aluminum. The 4r100 center supports are not secured enough in the case causing them to rock which beats em up where they seat in the case. Thats what the .050 snap ring modification fixes.
Well then i was miss educated, thats just what they told us caused it at the wit trans seminar and it seemed to make sense due to that paths that eat out ,looks like water erossion in dirt
But hey been wrong before and it wont be the last time lol
@@shamrockperformance7180 The E4OD core that I used for a build for my '79 Ford F350 to replace a C6 had a cooked forward clutch just like yours but the center support didn't have any significant wear. I reused it but upgraded it to the later roller bearing style. I didn't upgrade the planetaries either at first but I stripped the splines in the original aluminum OD planetary after about 800 miles after which I upgraded it to a non aluminum 4 gear set. Good video.
thanks for the info. ignore the negative comments.
What info? The information of him not knowing shit?
Doing this video from a phone camera , is completely un-professional. The main stay reason why these fail are due to two primary things 1) Excessive heat- cure= transmission cooler(s) { I run two out in front of the radiator and don't have any issues} , I also have a trans temp gauge which will tell you, when things are getting to hot. The use of a thermostatic fan will also increase cooling. 2) Poor maintenance done by owners ; Change your ATF fluid at least once a year people!!!! Things you can do to slow this process down: Deep draft pan which adds more fluid and gives the fluid time to cool as it goes through the fluid circuit. Increased transmission cooler capacity; Jegs has those and if you need to add a second one, do it. I've run two coolers for years and never once had any issues.
my 94 e150 w 200k miles with the e4od just blew a front seal. ive never towed anything and the trans has never had any problems. all hiway miles. last fall i did the the trans service and it was clean, no debris and the fluid looked brand new. it is my understanding that the original seals were poorly designed and prone to failure. is it possible that this was just a seal failure? Is it common for the original pump seal to eventually fail with an otherwise normally operating trans?
Yes, i run a repair shop. The unit you have ...has had decent if not good service miles... Replace the worn seal...and many more miles of riding will be in your favor.
Also, Once you take off shifts through all gears fine.
trying to do video with your phone??? really???
He probably wouldn't be doing it otherwise so... Gratitude
what is the name of the tool you used to push that assembly back to get the snap ring out?
how hard is it rebuilding the e40d
