Shostakovich 10 - 2nd Movement
มุมมอง 299 หลายเดือนก่อน
Shostakovich Symphony No. 10 - Second Movement (Allegro) This short, relentless movement is in ternary form. However, I have departed from the usual musical terminology to help the listener pick out the persistence of the famous "Stalin" theme. The opening theme, played in the strings, is the one associated with Stalin. It is insistent, militant, and will be ever-present throughout movement. Th...

Shostakovich Symphony No. 10 - Third Movement, Allegretto - Largo - Piu mosso The movement has variously been referred to in books and liner notes as a ternary form, a sonata form, and a sonata rondo fusion. It is also a scherzo and a quasi-scherzo; the composer called it a nocturne. It basically works in three sections (ABA) with a short quiet tail, which I've labeled in the sonata format. The...
Beethoven #7 - Finale

Dudamel and the LA Phil play the finale of Beethoven's Symphonly No. 7. The finale is in sonata form. Note that Dudamel does not repeat the Exposition in this recording, as you may hear in other performances. (He is also interpreting this movement at a rather speedy tempo compared to other conductors.) This movement has also been described as a sonata *rondo* form, something like ABABA, but I t...

Dudamel and the LA Philharmonic play the Third Movement of Beethoven's 7th symphony. This movement is a scherzo, with the trio repeated, creating an ABABA form. With signature humor, Beethoven teases yet another repeat of the trio to close the movement. Ha ha, thanks Ludwig.
Beethoven #7 - Second movement

Dudamel and the LA Phil play the second movement of Beethoven's 7th symphony. The form of the second movement can be understood as a rondo (ABABA) or a ternary (ABA) form with theme-and-variations in the A sections. Beethoven even throws in a wonderful fugato as a sort of variation in the middle A section.

I am interpreting this movement in three parts-two powerful, energetic sections bracketing a slower middle one. (This model is inverted in the second and third movements, each also with three parts, featuring a faster section in the middle.) The movement opens in a marvelously brooding C-minor passage in the strings, raising the curtain on what will become one of the most exciting and ambiguous...

Is this really just air vibrating at certain frequencies?
Nice job, Mr. Wisne.
