Dacca Tobacco Industries established by Adamjee family was nationalized and later acquired into Akij Bidi from where Akij Group began. Star Particle Board Mills (Partex Boards) was also established by Adamjee family, later transformed into Partex Board. National Tea Company, Adamjee Tea Gardens, Adamjee Sons, and many other companies were also owned by Adamjees later nationalized. Rupali Bank was originally owned by the Adamjee and Ispahani families as Muslim Commercial Bank. Agrani Bank was owned by House of Habib as Habib Bank. Janata Bank was originally United Bank, owned by Saigol family and established by Agha Hasan Abedi, founder of BCCI Bank. Agha Hasan Abedi met BCCI's second man, Swaleh Naqvi, in the Chittagong branch of United Bank. So as you can see the two countries share a close commercial history.
