I owned a 2015 DR650. Bought it brand new. Sold it after 5 years. Fantastic bike. Just wish it had a 6th gear. But i'll be buying another one next summer. Enjoy the ride!

Sounds like you need to re-jet your carb. Then it should start with a weak kick!

Change the oil every 3000 to 4000 miles. Clean oil is your friend. Oil is cheap compared to expensive mechanical repairs.

That's awesome! I delivered a new TTR110 on memorial Day to my 9 year old grandson. Better than them being on a computer game or a phone all day, or the streets!

Started on a ttr90 around 7 years old. Got a ttr125L this year at 19 yo, turned 20 and thinking about moving to a ttr250 soon (they are aircooled and simple for a 250, suspension and weight might be a downside though) around 2k around my area
I think you need a YZ125 or YZ250F
@hammilltime yeah I'm trying to stay cheap and simple. A yz125 would be amazing. Definitely keep my eyes open for deals. Never rode a 2 stroke, so it would be a learning curve for sure, even a yz85 would feel like an upgrade for a while, but I know I'd want more.

I have a ttr too it was a 125 but now it’s a 150
I just ordered the cold start jet kit for it. Have to leave the choke on forever and it’s a little lean anyway.
Great looking bike, i'm picking up a used one in a couple days with a bunch of mods, but I do want to lower the pegs. How was that process? what parts did you need?
Awesome, I’d highly recommend the DR650. The pro cycle foot pegs were pretty easy to install. You just have to move the shifter lever and rear brake lever. The kit came with everything needed except some loctite.

It is a turbo and it’s super hot. I haven’t heard anything about burning that much oil on the canyons and the Colorado, will just have to wait.
Just bought one myself definitely want to upgrade things you mentioned, but I don’t mind waffle grips, considering I rode MX most of my life, but definitely a carburetor upgrade and exhaust some holes in the air box suspension,etc.

For wakeboarding, rope needs to be half the length. Otherwise there is no wake to use as a ramp. FYI, for next time! Which lake is this?

Great bike! Super easy to work on. Turned mine into a supermoto. The TM42 carb will wake it up. Have a full exhaust and opened airbox. Classic bike when you want a simplistic motorcycle. A total blast to ride around town!
Watching this review, nothing has really discouraged me from giving this bike attention. I want a bike that I can ride long distances on the 401 and 402, ride to work on 90km/h roads, go on rides with my Girlfriend in the back, and take on the dirt on trails and fields, and this bike seems to be pretty perfect
Sounds like you should seriously consider this bike. I’ve owned a few and this is my favorite so far.

Procycle jet kit! Tusk dsport tires are great and cheap. I put a leovince pipe on mine and also had the suspension setup for my weight.
Check out cross training enduro TH-cam channel. They have great videos on how to wake up the beast. I rode the nebdr last fall on my dr650. It handled it with ease. I got hit by a car on the ride home and broke some bones and destroyed my bike. I'm about 80% healed and just bought a new tenere 700. It is a great bike with great features. I will be getting another dr650 when I can find one. It has a great analog feel to it and it is bomb proof. Do yourself a favor and pony up for a procycle seat, it was one of my favorite upgrades. HOw funny, I just read a review on guy got 35,000 on his been all over north America. Drop his counter shaft sprocket to 14, his top end is now higher an he does the Math, Curves an everything on the ways an hows on rpms, etc etc etc.. Hands hurt . Put a set of risers on the handle bars . It's probably too low, putting extra pressure on your hands . ✋️
I got a new to me 2020 back in January. Love it, put over 3k on it already. Luckily, it already had all the major stuff already done, like seat, suspension, carb, exhaust, etc. Also had the Bajaworks screen. I had the same problem. I trimmed about 3 inches off the top. It made a big difference with banging my head around.
