We were told that my daughter doesn’t have dyslexia, yet she still finds reading very difficult and she has trouble with comprehension. Her dad and sister have it and weren’t diagnosed until they were adults. Does this sound like stealth dyslexia? Someone I know who works at a dyslexia center said she believes my daughter has dyscalculia and dysgraphia as well.

I'm the only person in my family who is completely Undiagnosed and the only one who never got counseling or help. I can devour chapter books in no time. Context clues are something that I use a lot. I have trouble with writing because I can't remember how to write a letter half the time and my spelling is frequently not salvageable with autocorrect. Remembering the order of letters in the alphabet is also difficult. I definitely still get in trouble for writing letters backwards in random spots. I'm looking at setting up a consultation next year for an Undiagnosed math learning disability and a few other things but I'll see about bringing this up as a possibility as well. Thank you for this because I really didn't know that this was a thing.

I'm sorry, I still don't understand what the difference is. The school district tried to imply that my daughter had Ireland syndrome and gave her a green screen that was just annoying to her. They insisted on it and for that reason they didn't give her early intervention for dislexia. It took eight years for her to be able to graduate from HS because she couldn't read. The last two years, she received some accommodations. With APEX she was able to complete the 8 classes she needed to get her diploma, still it took 2 years for that. They exempt the writing part because due to Dysgraphia she used to take about two weeks to write a single paragraph. Also she forgot everything what she learned of math, so at the end they asked her that if the had $10. what would she might be able to get from a list...that was ridiculous. Now that she is in college, she can't read, write, or do math... She is terrified of start taking classes, such as English, Reading, History that need a lot of reading/writing, and of course math. She is very intelligent, but not getting that early intervention affected for life. I don't have a way to afford for classes where she can learn the methods to help her with LD, so I go with her in her college classes to help her to read/write, which I'm sure I'm not doing the best job because English is my second language, but there is no other help. I also help her with other documents like reading and filling out forms. I live her a d I do it gladly and the best way I can (but what is she going to do without my help?). DSS only has few resources, and that is only while she is taking classes. I would be very careful with that Ireland syndrome matter because, by experience, it doesn't help everyone. Demand to the school district to make a good evaluation and consult with the medical specialists about the results. I would like to know if you have affordable or free information to help adults who never received early intervention, like in my daughter's case. Thank you

My psychology lecturer spotted the symptoms after reading an essay of mine. She questioned if someone else had written my essay. As linguistics vs written word did not match. After a short conversation she advised me to speak to student support. Long story short I was diagnosed with this. In uni I got 25mins extra in exams, and got help understanding sentence structure and syntax. Ref reading I just don't take it it, however my recollection to audio books is insane. We are all different 👌👌
