Nürburgring 23.6.24 09:57 Mercedes SLK 350 Sport with Insta360 X4
Nürburgring Season 2024 starts with a new personal lap record right on the first day on a perfect Sunday morning in June.
I'm still driving unmodified 2008 Mercedes-Benz SLK 350 Sportmotor (the face-lift)
I've upgraded to a Insta360 X4 and just pinned it to the front window. Editing happened on the phone with the gyro sensor, meaning I'm choosing the angle by moving around with the phone. This turns out to be an awesome way to record and edit driving footage!
No idea yet how to integrate the stats from RaceChrono, but if you prefer those, jump back to last year's videos!
Let me know what you think of the camera work on this one!

I was already at the gas station, ready to head home and finish up my 2023 Nürburgring season with the SLK, when the convincing arguments of a driving colleague brought me back on the track one more time. My second fastest lap so far, but actually just having fun driving in the sun. Enjoy.

This round turned out to become my personal lap record, -10 seconds faster than my previous ones! After a morning of rain this was my first lap on the dryed up track. An unforseen amazing cat and mouse game with an Audi TT, plenty of overtakes and fast curves. Unfortunately my phone stopped recording video at one point :((( Still, the first 2/3 of this lap are an absolute delight to watch. Enjoy!

My first rounds on the Nürburgring Nordschleife in a Mercedes SLK 350 Sport (2008). Round 5/6 driving with the roof down at 12:37 AM, 06.05.2023. high traffic on the track and yellow flags (for unknown reason). My first rounds on the Nürburgring Nordschleife in a Mercedes SLK 350 Sport (2008). Round 3/6 at 08:51 AM, 06.05.2023. The track is still pretty empty, so there is not much traffic at that time. This was my fastest round of the day, 9:33min. RaceChrono Pro App, data coming from a "Veepeak OBDCheck BLE ", recorded with the Samsung S23.

I have no clue why this video blew up, but I am glad you are all enjoying my amateur driving! Check out the other rounds with different camera positions that I uploaded as well. I had a 2009 350 slk in Canada, owned it 7 years It was a fun car
Astreine Runde! Da kriegt man ja richtig Bock auf eine Spazierfahrt Richtung Eifel. Ich hätte gerne mal die Döttinger Höhe in voller Länge gesehen, ich weiß ja nicht ob das an solchen 'freien' Tagen überhaupt erlaubt ist. Beim 6-Zylinder r172 ist bei 250 km/h Schluß, zumindest von Haus aus.
Man kann schon links weiter längs fahren und direkt in die nächste Runde starten. Aber Vollgas auf ganzer Länge geht nicht. Für max Speeds gibt's aber ja die Autobahn ;) Tacho vom Auto macht bei 258kmh Schluss. Entriegelt soll er 270 schaffen, aber das bringts nun auch nicht mehr.

@Skaibl what gloves did you use are using that you can recommend?
Honestly, I was only using gloves because I have very dry hands that don't sweat easily, to have a bit better grip. I used my bicycle gloves, that's all. Sure, you can buy expensive driving gloves if you want and spend hundreds of euros. But I don't see the need. More important than gloves is e.g. to remember to take off your hands from the steering wheel in case of a frontal crash if you lose control, to not break your wrists.

I have one and trust me, you can do much better than that with it.
Is this car standard or has it been modified?
Its a standard 350 Sport with Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 5 tires, so street oriented sport tires.
The guy is not really much of a driver , the car is not really bery quick and the camera is not positioned very well with the rear view mirror blocking out most of the track ahead partially spoiling the viewing enjoyment , nice car tho , i have one 👍

I have the same car but 6 speed manual and it will be quicker than the auto! Never really compared properly but I have driven an auto and it is different, more control over the rev range with the manual. However, 1st is crap, on the drag race you need a rolling start, but once it’s passed second then the power and speed does build and quick! I though about selling in a few times but not done it because just like you it does put a smile on the face when driving it. I call it cheap fun with all the thrills 😊

Den 171-350 hätte man seinerzeit wirklich auch mit Kompressor rausbringen müssen...;D Gutes Video, allzeit gut Fahrt :)
Neeee. Bin vor kurzem den Alpine A110 S gefahren und hab auch noch ein vernünftiges Fhzg auch mit Kompressor. Die kurzen Gänge von Kompressoren, das ist nicht das gleiche Feeling, andauernd muss man schalten, um die Drehzahlen hoch zu halten. Die langen Übersetzungen des SLK sind ein Traum und tragen sehr zum Fahrspass bei finde ich.
