CAMPFIRE LIFE - with Matt & Rox
South Africa
เข้าร่วมเมื่อ 11 ก.พ. 2021
Welcome to our channel.
A brief history about us: We purchased an unfinished "project motorhome" during the early months of Covid 19 Lockdown. We were going stir crazy and needed something to do other than sit on the couch or work on the house! HAHA
It was a constant work in progress. And as soon as we were allowed to when restrictions were relaxed we began to travel a bit, test the work we had done and were on to the next task.
We have only begun to explore the true beauty of South Africa, trying to reach new places we have not been before, and now having a 4 x 4 that is completely self sufficient, trying to push further and further into the unexplored.
We have bought a few new gadgets along the way, and with the recent addition of a drone we hope to get some amazing footage soon.
Please bare with us we are new at this lol ;)
We hope you enjoy watching our travels as much as we are!

MTENTU / MNYAMENI / CAMPING WILD COAST / JAN 2021
มุมมอง 12K3 ปีที่แล้ว
We travel to the Wild Coast and spend a few days free camping / wild camping in Mtentu. We have an interesting encounter with some Nguni cattle, cook some scrumptious crayfish and travel along some hectic dirt roads. Along the way we meet a lovely couple who invite us to visit them at their holiday cottage in Mnyameni. We take Angel swimming and have loads of fun on the beach. On route back to ...
OUR MOTORHOME TOUR / VIEW OUR WORK IN PROGESS / DEC 2020
มุมมอง 2163 ปีที่แล้ว
While camping at Bhanga Nek, Matt decides to do a quick impromptu video of all the work/projects he has been busy with upgrading the motorhome. These projects are what have kept him sane during the Covid lockdown period before we were allowed to travel. As we mention in the video, all is still a work in progess and we look forward to showing you the completed project in the near future. #offgri...
BHANGA NEK / TURTLE SEASON / CAMPING / DEC 2020
มุมมอง 1K3 ปีที่แล้ว
We travel to North eastern Kzn, 15 km south of the Mozambique border. Bhanga Nek is located approximately 450km from Durban. We spend a few nights camping in our motorhome at the beach camp. It is turtle nesting season while we are in the area. The highlight of our whole trip was watching a turtle lay her eggs on the beach at dawn. What a beautiful experience. #bhanganek #offgridcamping #campfi...
INJISUTHI CAMP - DRAKENSBERG/KZN NOV 2020
มุมมอง 4.3K3 ปีที่แล้ว
We spend 3 days camping at and hiking at Injisuthi in the KZN Drakensberg mountains. Spectacular views during our hikes. On day 2 we start off on an easy hike. It begins at the campsite and continues to the the old dipping tank and back via the yellowwood forest. Light hearted to get the muscles warmed up. On day 3 was a bit unplanned... and we had no idea how strenuous it would be. Total round...
SOMKHANDA GAME RESERVE / OCT 2020
มุมมอง 1.2K3 ปีที่แล้ว
We visit Somkhanda Game Reserve for two nights to have a quick off road capability test of our motorhome. Primarily this is to test our vehicle, learn tyre pressures, energy usage and efficiency etc. The animals and relaxation were a bonus ;) We had no electricity at this reserve and quickly discovered had to use our generator to charge our batteries and fridges each night. Which made the next ...
MONKS COWL / DRAKENSBERG / SEPT 2020
มุมมอง 1.3K3 ปีที่แล้ว
Our 2nd trip in our new 4 x 4 motorhome to Monks Cowl in the Drakensburg, KZN. A short visit mostly for research and development on what needs to be done to the RV to improve it to make it ready to be "off the grid". We also enjoy a nice hike to Nandi falls and Sterkspruit falls and back to Monks Cowl campsite. Thanks to Bensound.com for the music in this video. www.bensound.com #monkscowl #dra...
Very nice country site
This is a place of our forefathers,it’s either u blend or u stay at your homes🤬
Where were you staying by Mtentu that was pet friendly? Or you were camping off grid?
We camped off grid 😊
We went up the mudslide and down the crack. Much more exciting.
Great Hike! what app did you had on your phone?thanks
It's called Gaia Gps
Injasuti is named from the lieral zulu traslation "statisfied dog" *inja' means dog and "suti" means had enought to eat. When speaking Zulu, people often leave out the first part of the word.
Beautiful. If I may ask, did you need permission to camp at the beach in Mtentu?
Nice vid guys, haven’t been able to get up there for a while but love that place. That is a mad day hike, hats off. How did you feel the next day??
I went to the cavs and its sad that someone painted crazy things there
Hi. Can I please have your contact details. We are in Durban and building our Isuzu. Would love to meet, and chat.
Awesome video guys 💪💪💯😄😄
漂亮的
great stuff guys
Great video 👍👌💪💪💯
Nice video. I'd like to know which app you are using at 8:10?
Hi Rynhardt, it is called Gaia gps, awesome app and we use it for all our travels and hiking!
Fantastic video!
Very cool Mat and Rox
1:28 isinjitsu? Sounds like a martial art. 👀
Haha a mouthful to try pronounce after a couple glasses of wine!
Beautiful to watch this turtle. And to think we swim in the ocean not even aware of these turtles that could be swimming around us, hey?
You can watch it on a nature show but to actually sit next to her and make eye contact with her in real life is something completely different...Very special experience !
Haha, Rox love the face of exhaustion. Did you come across an adders?
Hahaha that was a bit of a climb. Yes we have encountered one or two. But they just move off the path.
Love the work you have done on the motorhome, definitely home away from home and able to be totally off-grid. It's like a "survival motorhome" for any conditions. The island bed is my dream addition for an ideal motorhome, but how to get that and keep the motorhome small enough for me to feel comfortable driving it - is our challenge. Is Rox comfortable driving your motorhome?
Thanks Jo. We are enjoying our motorhome and find it really comfy with our custom modifications. I feel quite comfortable driving it on the road but don't have the correct license for it so am a bit wary, the first time I attempted to drive it "offroad" was at game reserve and got about 300m where a rhino almost ran straight into us! Haha so that was fun and put an end that very quickly lol. ( you will see it in an upcoming video)
@@campfirelife-withmattrox5642 Well done you! Looking forward to seeing that video 😄
Nice video of your day hike and campsite. It would be nice to include your elevation of the walk, as I was curious as to how high you had to climb. Lovely to see how close you came to the baboons - quite special.
Hi Jo, walking with the baboons was lovely. Yes I agree about the elevation, this was one of our first videos we decided to create so we didn't think to add all that info in the beginning. You will notice our later hikes do include it 😉
