My selection for Marching Band of the Day today, January 25, 2025, is the Jackson State University Marching Band!! It was amazing to see this historic band at the Rose Bowl Parade this year. The fans from Jackson State were of many and super supportive of this amazing marching band. These Marching Athletes had an amazing season and looks to have an amazing off-season! Conducting an off season history review and looking forward to performances in the 2025 year! 😎🎉🎶🥁🏈🎊

I marched in MBCs Marching Band in the mid/late 90s, under the direction of Prof. Cleopas R. Johnson, Jr. A.K.A. "The Johnson Wax Production". I miss those days (& my horn).

I played in MBC band from 1971-1974. We were the greatest back then. Director C. Johnson. . Eddie Ellis director in 1999 video was a band mate of mine. I'm so glad I went to Morris Brown.

Let's begin with club football and a small band of about 75 members before we skyrocket.

This is what they say: they can't relive the past. I think Brown is making a U-turn on their way back to prominence. I "believe" they would have football and marching bands again. The way things are going at the rate it is going I believe we will see all those things again in about 4-6 years. Look what happened in just tree years and counting.

No doubt, Legendary they both Southern and Jackson bit Brown style. Shit from what I saw that is exactly, what happened.

I was there, Morris Brown College Grad! I learned quickly that the band was the ish. During freshmen orientation the band would practice across the street from the Towers in the parking lot, (this is when the time the new stadium was being built.) Every evening we had an "eargasm" as they would practice. A few weeks later when football season started I found out people didn't go to the game to see the football team, (at the time we were terrible) EVERYONE CAME TO SEE THE BAND! I'm so glad that I went to Morris Brown Singin' glory hallelujah, (Wooo) I'm so glad!!!!

FYI............ Drumline was not MBC 1st movie role, it was Sharkey's Machine starring Burt Reynolds

I'm a PROUD member of the MBC Marching Wolverine Band and when I marched late 80's early 90''s we were around 225 then & I'm also a former Purple Haze DM.

Thank you so much for highlighting this video. I marched for Morris Brown from 1997-2000 and trust and believe, that era of sound and music was unmatched. They were different with their approach of touch the field and they will always be ranked as the top band for me.

I Absolutely agree because I attended MBC at that time 96' freshman yr ,and was in the band and we were awesome, great memories this is called" Coming out the hole" In the beginning when you see us march out(fast march)! Thanks for the clip , doing the dance routine while watching lol💜

No shade at all (both of my parents graduated from there), but MBC was notorious for picking up extra pieces from the surrounding high schools (WHS in particular) and kids who would soon become MBC band members.

Mdfs has always held the standard!! Even in the video. It wasn't just the current section. The Alum was apart as well

Morris Brown was really a style all there own. I have to say though, around 2000 when Bubblin got a re-charge it really sealed the deal for this band. They just had a style that set them apart.
