Simulated Engine Failure Practice in Evektor SportStar That Didn't Go As Planned
Simulated engine failure practice from a somewhat lower altitude than what we had been previously practicing. We may not always have time for a fixed procedure and the field being very close, the plane was turned away from it for an attempted circling turn.
This is why we practice and constantly learn and improve our proficiency. This is for entertainment purposes only.

Thanks for this. Working on my CPL right now and it's great to watch this kind of content.
Welcome to the World's Largest Freshwater Island! My farm is adjacent to the airport and I can just barely see it.
Good on you for doing this practice. So valuable.
A landing of Master Pilot!!!
Awesome vid!
It does happen..
Bro, how long did you keep your nose up for? lmao
Great job!
Greased it!
Beautiful
buttery smooth first landing. amazing job
Congrats
It that an alarm going off? That was better than my first solo landing
It's something type of interference from the transponder, GoPro picks it up quite loud.
What's the cost of a ultralight hourly rate? This looks amazing. I would love to rent one and do a city tour.
Thanks. Our rates for city tour can be found here: www.skyviewultralights.ca/intro-flights
Noob question / does your ultralight have autopilot or do you rely on trim and power management to maintain flight?
The one in this video has autopilot but also use the trim often
It’s going to cost me a lot but it’s time to mandate ads-b in Canada. I don’t want to spend 10k but this area is too busy to stop offering flight following especially in the summer. Also, it’s not the controllers fault TC has dropped the ball when it comes to being proactive and recruiting before they’re critically short staffed.
"Did you just say 'niner'"? (Tommy Boy)
Is there a company that will do a sightseeing Helicopter tour around there? Any idea about costs? Thanks great video
We didn't see any helicopter tours. We did a local boat tour for around $100
Thanks Great video, you captured all my communications for EED 😂😂
Awesome!
Annnnnnd.....I'd like a pop up IFR please.
Just for some of you that aren’t aware, Toronto Pearson currently needs 59 controllers to run efficiently and is operating with 26. The NOTAM clearly states it’s due to reduced system capacity and has been continuously issued for the last little bit. a lot of these controllers that are monitoring the VFR FF freq that many of you use (133.4,134.25,127.00 etc) are usually on multiple frequencies. Now some of you saying it’s hit or miss is due to the fact that if you are provided flight following that is because that current controller has decided to accommodate you in his/her workload. Hope this helps, Z.
I flew heavy’s to major centres of the world . Never heard of a ATC refusing to keep aircraft safe . FF , in not a tremendous amount of work. Give them a vector way outside the busy terminal areas and you done . ONLY IN CANADA !
I fly through Toronto terminal airspace a couple times a week - in these clips we're not really getting to hear all of the traffic that's usually present on frequency. It is busy airspace with 14 airports including Pearson which is arguably the busiest in Canada. Even when traffic is at it's lightest, I routinely hear denial of flight following / entry into the zone to aircraft that have registrations that start with C-I(XXX). They just don't want to deal with 'I' registered aircraft, except on the VFR traffic routes.
Yes, I'm often fly through terminal airspace, in this particular instance in the first clip, it wasn't so busy and there were no NOTAMs so we were a little surprised. We needed to get across in the VFR path on the way to Montreal. We ended up having to go around the rings. Yeah C-IXXX can have a harder time, but most controllers are pretty good about it
@@skyviewultralights3420 What does the aircrafts "C-IXXX" registration have to do with denial of flight following?
Harder perhaps not the right word, we get asked if we are appropriately equipped and ATC is often unfamiliar with aircraft types as well, I imagine it increases the workload to some extent?
@@4g123ipodtouch1 The 'I' is only given to advanced ultralights -
@@skyviewultralights3420 to remain clear of Class C doesn’t mean you have to go around the rings. You can stay under the Class C shelf as well. That would keep you in Class E.
I’ve been denied flight following in mtl for years
Out here in LA, ATC really makes it a priority to give ff unless they are completely short staffed. Their reasoning is that vfr traffic can really mess with jet traffic even if they are in E airspace
That has been my experience. Generally, the SoCal ARTCC controller quality of service is magnificent. Other parts of the USA have been varying levels of good to quite good.
Ohhh Canadaa.. land of no flight following and no FIS-B weather.
Bro I’m sorry but Canadian airspace is so wack. I’ve been flying for almost 3 years and have never been denied VFRFF in all 50 US states
Try New York on a Friday afternoon, it can be hit or miss, although I've learned that unofficially of course, the more confident you sound on the radio and the bigger/faster the airplane the more likely you are to get FF. I will say however over the last 3 or 4 years the odds of getting flight following in NY has gone up drastically.
Try to get flight following in Australia, gets denied due to all of 3 aircraft in class C
Its called ATC shortage folks.. welcome to the new normal
I had that happen in Orlando. I needed to skirt their (MCO) class B into ISM due to fuel. They did not just deny me, they screamed at me!
well good thing we have many many other airports in that vicinity that are outside the bravo sir, when you say due to fuel im guessing you really mean due to fuel price😂👍
Flight Following is always “work load permitting”. When requesting FF, I always say, “If available”. Never had it refused.
Then you don’t fly very much or in a really busy area. In L.A.’s underlying class B and multiple C’s, FF denial isn’t so surprising. We just deal with it.
Why is the mic so baaaad
The transcript is hilarious; classy airspace 😂
Do you guys think this is the result of privatized ATC? I am kind of thinking it is. And this is what they want in the US, even though it is a fix in search of a problem.
😅
Its just a workload-dependent service, not really to do with privatization. Ive been denied VFR FF several times in my training in Northern California. Controllers can get really busy really quickly and at the end of the day, an American Airlines 757 is more important than my Cessna 172
What camera do you use ?
GoPro Hero 7
😳😳😳
As an ATC at MIA TRACON, I can say none of those ATC sounded busy lol . But if it was NOTAMd for volume I get it, but how much volume did they have? Miami Has sport evens, boat shows, art shows, that bring in hundreds of private jets and dozens of helicopters and VfR planes and the only recent NOTAM we put out is no practice approaches! We still give flight following left and right and even that is a lot lol, but we do it.
do you know how many freqs their ve been woking on at the special moment ?
I fly out of HWO and have never been turned down by MIA Tracon for FF. Ft. Myers on the other hand turns me down all the time and drops me all the time when transiting their space when passing in the area of LaBelle VOR.
I did VFR FF from ORL to PIE a couple weeks ago, and both Orlando and Tampa approach were super busy but they still accommodated for me. Not sure why this guy gets denied so much lol
+1 on great ATC in Miami for VFR!
I happen to know that the sector denying Flight Following in Toronto was, and is ,constantly short staffed lately. This airspace involves 3 separate sectors and a total of 6 frequencies, covering 19 IFR airports with the airspace approx 160nm x 80nm ,low level ranging from SFC-110& SFC-060 depending where you are. A shift normally needs 5-6 people to split sectors and facilitate Flight following. Most days lately we have 2 people working, sometimes 3. IFR traffic has come back quickly and when doing approaches and departures from multiple airports stretching across that distance, working single stand (one person working all that airspace while other person works data board giving clearances and coordination) it becomes less of a priority for flight following because once you take 1, 10 more call you, while your trying to go from one end of the screen to the other with IFR arrivals and departures in a complex airspace. So although the ATC didn’t sound busy, they were working 6 frequencies and based on some company policies, it’s basically up to the controller to protect his/her own license. We don’t want to restrict traffic, we want more controllers, but the process has been slow to recruit new controllers unfortunately.
Agree or disagree, flight following is a luxury extended to VFR traffic provided workload w/ ATC allows it. Asking in the vicinity of Class C airspace (reserved for high traffic volume airports) isnt doing you any favors either. Fly your VFR altitude, and put those see-and-avoid skills to work! If you want guaranteed radar services, might be time to get the ol' instrument rating....happy flying!
Well said
Putting up with flight following defeats the point of VFR flying
@@Alexius1Komnenos Agreed.
Wow what a pain in the Ass come south my friend
Someday!
vfr should only be allowed in remote areas.....like west texas. Its very irritating to be on approach somewhere and have 5 vrf planes and none of them know where they are, trying to land.
….good luck with that mission
What in idiotic comment. VFR is the lifeblood of aviation and if you have trouble with VFR traffic you shouldn't be a pilot.
Same situation in montreal. It’s on NOTAM. Lack of people…
Yeah, although I had very nice controllers at Montreal center for flight following from Ottawa to Burlington. Just luck of the draw I guess
When the ATC takes 5 sentances worth of subtitles to explain they are unable to take the aircraft and then ends in "alright"
This year, it is happen often. I think only 20% got flight following in Toronto center, and i cannot got Toronto city tour clearance in recently 2 months .
Same thing happened to me when flying from Buttonville to Brantford. I filed a form with COPA to inform them of the denial off service.
Unable because they're so busy yet use 19 sentences to tell him he's Unable.
Canadian courtesy.
If they had simply said "no", the complaint would be how rude they were 🤗🤗🤗
Probably more due to staffing requirements….you know Covid and all.
@@stevel8743 That's still a problem in Canada?
More off Canada falling apart at the seams... Moy the country burn and be passed onto the USA!
That controller ends all his sentences in questions.
Does this happen often? I wonder if this is an effect of Canada's privatized ATC system.
No, it wasn't so bad before this year in my experience
Tell me you have no idea how atc works without telling me you have no idea how atc works!
Worse before !
