Keep Your Cinema Camera Clean and Tidy (RED KOMODO CAMERA PREP)
มุมมอง 1.4K3 ปีที่แล้ว
Keeping your camera clean and tidy while on set is one of the most important things to consider. Camera Prep is one of the many steps in the Pre-Production process. As cameras become more and more complex with added accessories, making sure everything is properly placed is crucial for proper camera control and function. Plus, it looks good in instagram photos too :D. Link to Gear Ties: www.amaz...

Its a beautiful, clean setup. It just does not look like you can even use that top handle for what it's meant, at least in this setup. Did you try mounting Teradek from the side of the cage, so leaving top handle clear for when you actualy need it?

Hi. Was wondering how long you can power that rig with one of those batteries ?

hey man, lovely build.Did you get the Tilta handle to trigger the Komodo? If yes, which cable did you use? I tried two, but no luck. I'm using the R/S bright tangerine nato port.

Honestly, I wouldn't build a camera that way and it feels completely backwards but maybe you are left handed, I dunno.

Hey how did you get your Tilta top handle to line up with the hole on the top plate? Mines doesn’t line up so I just used another screw and tighten it just before the hole. Works well, but it be nice for it to be threaded in the hole.

Be careful, mate. Not sure if it was just for the sake of the video….but don’t ever plug the Komodo’s BNC cable into the camera’s SDI port without first powering up everything else first. Once the monitor and the Teradek are up and running, power up the camera. Once the camera is also powered up, plug in the BNC to the monitor’s (and/or other accessories) SDI Port, THEN plug the BNC into the camera’s SDI. It should be the very last thing you do. It should be the same in reverse for when powering down. First unplug the BNC cable from the camera, then power everything down. Otherwise you risk frying your SDI port. I, too, own a Komodo and I have to be as diligent as possible about these steps. It’s a pain….but it’s true for all cinema cameras, like Arri, running 12G SDI. Not trying to treat you like an idiot….just don’t want you frying your camera. Hope that helps. support.red.com/hc/en-us/articles/360057166453-Preventing-Damage-to-SDI-Outputs

Appreciate the feedback! We’re aware of the vulnerable SDI port on the Komodo and only did this for aesthetics of the video. We usually run a Freakshow HD MSX2-L Reclocking Distribution Amplifier for SDI and always use shielded SDI cables. We’ve been rocking it for a year and a half on Komodo with 0 issues. Again, appreciate you looking out for us though! Thanks for watching!

I actually think he didn't do anything wrong... I own a Komodo since 2020, and have done it exactly the way he showed in the video... I saved the instructions to my phone, and I always go back to them as a reminder after not working with the Komodo for a while. As far as I know is that all you have to do before connecting the BNC cable is that you have to connect the monitor and camera to a power source. You don't have to turn them on to connect the BNC cable.

@@marketstreetstudios you still follow protocol or does the Freakshow HD MSX2-L allow you to just not worry about it?

If you plug the Tentacle Sync cable into the microphone port wont that record that sound on the actual video?

Excellent video, thanks. I would like to see a nuts and bolts version showing you how it connects to the cameras.
