I don’t use that type of clear but in theory if you’re using an acrylic clear over acrylic and then you use enamel over it should be fine as long as the clear is thick enough but again I don’t use it so I can’t say for sure. Sometimes I like to test using a spare piece of plastic experimenting with how much of the product I used to achieve the effects I want. I use the floor gloss revive it, but I don’t think they sell it anymore. There is a new product I’ve been looking at called quick shine which is from my research looks to work the same way as the pledge stuff so that’s probably what I will convert to. Also, when you’re applying the thinner over the clear it seems like if you use too much thinner or you’re too aggressive with your technique you can also get through and disrupt the original coat. The last thing I would say is to make sure you allow enough time for the product to dry. I know the pledges dries very fast. I usually can work after about a half an hour if I want to, but what you’re using may have a longer drying time hope that helps and good luck.

I believe I mixed 5 parts xf18 and 4 parts xf2 to get the as19 spray can equivalent for Tamiya. You can also buy the Vallejo air war color set for the US Pacific, which should have those colors included premixed.

I ask because with mine, the way it was packaged was with the adhesive part facing the inside of the handle, which would make sense if I ever wanted to remove the handle from the glass without leaving the adhesive behind. But the directions aren’t clear and I couldn’t tell from the video which way you did it. Just curious.

I don’t remember the exact grit but it’s usually starting in the 200s and then out to 400 or 500 but I always check with primer after I’m done sanding to make sure the lines gone

I always thought Tamiya OD is too dark. You can lighten it with yellow.

I loved trains growing up. I think people that are into planes and ships are naturally into transportation and technology in general. This was a fun little build and doing something different is important for learning. Thanks for the watch!

I put the pledge on to protect the paint work and give it a gloss surface to apply the washes. When I use enamels for the washes it won’t break through the protected layer of pledge

Yes, that is the idea. It was not 100% dust proof (small gaps between door glass), but better than leaving them out in the open.

Awesome, I’m a big fan of using oils for the weathering before applying the final dull coat. I find it to be nicely realistic and fairly forgiving as long as taking precaution against fingerprints.

Agree 100%. It can be overcome but I had to experiment back then coming back to the hobby the best methods. Appreciate you checking out the video! I more recently built the 1/48 Tamiya version on my channel, and that I consider to be the culmination of what I learned on these earlier builds.
